When the Actors First Take the Stage: It’s the top of the show, the curtain goes up and the actors take the stage. I look forward to this moment every time I go see a show. It’s the anticipation for the story to unfold. It never gets old. Live theatre is just so magical.
Costumes and Sets Galore: Some shows just have the best costumes and sets ever! I recently saw SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical and let me tell you, the set was the most intricately designed set I’ve ever seen. They used pool noodles as kelp, red solo cups as coral, a kiddie pool as the doomsday clock, and boxes as Mt. Humongous. The costumes in the show were made with things from everyday life. There’s a costume that uses a traffic cone as a face and tennis balls as eyes, and another has caution tape at the bottom of the dress
Comedic Timing: We all know that one character with the best comedic timing and one liners. Some scenes are so funny that they’re often the parts you remember most from a show. They just have you laughing your head off and its genius. It’s a little bit of relief for the night.
It’s All Fun and Games Until Act II: Act I is really just setting up the plot. It’s the characters just starting the story. Act II is where the magic happens, where the sausage gets made (weekly Hamilton reference for you). Everything gets put into place, characters start to know who they are, and problems start to arise.
When the Climax Hits: We all know this moment. The room tenses up and on the edge of their seats. Its bad guys verse good guy. Whether it be that the characters are working out a deal, or they’re at each other’s throats it’s a super serious scene and I just can’t take my eyes off it.
