5 Children’s Books You Should Reread in College

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OR State chapter.

Having time to read for enjoyment can be pretty hard in college. We juggle studying, writing papers, extracurricular activities, jobs, and our social lives! Here are five children’s books you should read again in college:

1. Bunnicula

Harold the dog and Chester the Cat are suspicious of the Monroe family’s new pet. The bunny, named Bunnicula, may seem innocent, but Harold and Chester know what he really is — a vampire bunny!

2. A Taste of Blackberries

Though it is one of the oldest books on the list, A Taste of Blackberries will not disappoint. Follow the journey of two best friends and what will happen when tragedy strikes. How is someone supposed to live without their best friend? Have your tissues ready!

3. The Lorax by Dr. Seuss

Dr. Seuss isn’t afraid to talk about hard topics, but still make them fun and colorful! The Lorax tried to warn the Once-ler what would happen by cutting down all of the Truffula Trees, but now they are gone. The Once-ler saved a single seed, and fate of trees is now in the hands of a child.

4. The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket

Follow the lives of the unlucky Baudelaire children Violet, Klaus, and Sunny as they try to escape from the hands of the evil villain Count Olaf. The book isn’t all sunshine and happiness, but it is a great read!

5. My Father’s Dragon by Ruth Stiles Gannett

My Father’s Dragon tells a story about a boy, referred to as “My father” by the narrator, who runs away with a cat to rescue a baby dragon in a faraway island! The book is funny and a little bit silly, but a classic!
