‘Tis the season for being festive, spending time with your family, making lots of holiday cookies and treats and of course gathering around the TV to watch some movies.
Here are a few of our suggestions for your viewing pleasure:
1. Home Alone
This movie is a classic for a reason. Kevin is left home alone on Christmas by his family and has to ward off two unlucky burglars. He sets out legos and spiders, and thinks up the perfect plan that, with the help of some new friends, outsmarts the bad guys in the end. Tune in for laughs galore!
2. The Polar Express
Polar Express is the perfect movie for reminiscing on your childhood. It is all about believing even when it seems really difficult. The journey to get to the North Pole is almost as eventful as being there for these kids and it’s a wild ride!
3. A Christmas Story
This movie is a must-watch every year for my family. If you haven’t seen it already you’re in for a treat filled with embarrassing gifts, major awards, mean santas, very bad dogs, childhood mistakes, and so much more!
4. I’ll Be home for Christmas
Who doesn’t love a young Jonathan Taylor Thomas? As his character travels home through a series of wacky events you can just think about how easy your simple plane ride home was despite all the crazy long security lines.
5. Christmas with the Kranks
What starts as a couple deciding to skip out on Christmas at whatever cost ends up being a last-minute community Christmas celebration with a happy albeit quirky ending. It all goes to show that Christmas is all about family, kindness, tradition, and bringing people together!
6. Snow Day
Snow Day is all about a group of kids fighting to take back their snow day from the evil snow plow worker. I think we can all remember those days last Snowpacolypse on campus when we felt the same way wanting to just celebrate in the snow, drink hot cocoa, and relax instead of trudging to far too many finals.
7. The Holiday
This movie has Jack Black, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, and Cameron Diaz just to name a few, and it is the perfect romantic comedy to celebrate being inside, cozy, and spending time with those you love. Both of our main characters find themselves in unexpected new places and go on adventures, which is basically exactly like finding a new show to watch on Netflix, right?
Happy Holidays Beaver Nation!
