HC at Oregon State: What got you interested in forming a Delta Lambda Phi interest group here at Oregon State University?
Cory: I have many friends in Greek Life here at OSU and always found it interesting, but I didn’t have an interest in becoming a member of any of the current chapters on campus.
Â
HC at Oregon State: What sets Delta Lambda Phi apart from the other fraternities here on campus already?
Cory: Delta Lambda Phi is an organization that was founded by and for LGBTQ and allied men; it was founded for those who wanted a classic Greek experience with other like-minded men. For most men in the LGBTQ community, Greek life isn’t on their radar. Delta Lambda Phi provides these men with an option that assures them that they can be who they are without prejudice.
Â
HC at Oregon State: Does the Delta Lambda Phi interest group have any upcoming recruitment events this term or the next that those interested can attend?
Cory: We will be having another interest meeting in early Spring Term (date to be decided). We will announce it through our Facebook Page and through e-mail.
Â
HC at Oregon State: I see you are a design major here on campus. What is your favorite part of the design program here at Oregon State? What do you hope to gain from your degree?
Cory: My favorite part is the camaraderie that comes with being a design major at OSU. We are placed into cohorts with others in our majors. It has been so great meeting other interior designers and bonding with them through the classes we take. I hope to gain relationships as well as vital knowledge about interiors that will help ignite and fulfill my career.

Â
HC at Oregon State: Do you think being a part of Greek life here on campus will help you reach your goals post-graduation?
Cory: I believe so. Being involved with Greek life has helped me make quite a few connections so far and I only see it being beneficial. Whether or not the Delta Lambda Phi Interest Group progresses to becoming a chapter or not, I know that it has the potential to open many doors for both myself and the other members in the career world.
Â
HC at Oregon State: What has been your favorite campus memory?
Cory: I really enjoyed the OSU Fall Drag Show this last year. My good friend from Western Oregon University was invited to perform and it was my first time seeing him in drag. This year, I’ve definitely taken a step into the LGBTQ community and it was one of the best choices I’ve ever made.
Â
HC at Oregon State: Do you have a favorite spot on campus for studying?
Cory: Oddly enough, I really like to study in Pangea Cafe in the MU. I usually get one of their special meals and I find a spot near the windows to the ballroom and I either read, work on interior projects, or manage the fraternity social media accounts.
