Come winter term on campus all you want to do is study, get in some naps, eat some comfort food and drink some hot beverages. That’s what hibernation season is all about. We’ve got the best places on campus for you to curl up and grab some good eats.

1. McNary Dining Center

McNary Dining Center is home to not one, not two, and not even three late night destinations on campus but four! They have just about anything you could want and are a short walking distance from Tebeau Hall, Wilson Hall, McNary Hall, and Callahan Hall respectively.

Main Squeeze: Open until 12 am Sunday-Thursday/10 pm Friday-Saturday

Main Squeeze has all the smoothies, yogurt bowls, and basic grocery items you could need in your dorm such as cheese sticks, muffins, and other quick snacks. My favorite smoothie being the peanut butter invigoration which has bananas, chocolate chips, and peanut butter as it’s main ingredients. There are also numerous fruit smoothies with a power boost to keep you energized all night long.

RainTree: Open until 12 am Sunday-Thursday

RainTree is a Starbucks concept with a few added twists. You’ve got all your basic starbucks drinks plus bakery items like cheesecake, lemon bars, and mousse cups made in house along with croissants from New Morning Bakery and fruit cups sure to keep you going for that late night study session.

Calabaloo’s: Open until 9 pm Monday-Friday

Calabaloo’s will satisfy your every craving for burgers, fries, fish and chips, milkshakes, and they even have gluten-free bun options. The best part of Calabaloo’s though is the rotating specials. This month they have the chile egg burger and a delicious chocolate espresso shake.

La Calle: Open until 12 am Sunday-Thursday

La Calle is a late-night taqueria serving authentic street tacos and other Latin-inspired meals such as custom-made burritos and taco salads. The fillings include beef barbacoa, pork carnitas, pollo a la parilla, chorizo tofu, and fresh produce. They come served with lime wedges and speciality salsas.

2. Cascadia Deli/Market: Open until 10 pm Sunday-Saturday

Cascadia Market in the ILLC on the south side of campus is an on-campus market featuring a variety of grocery items, international specialty foods, household items, and grab-and-go meals like Velveeta or Ramen. The deli provides items like macaroni and cheese, soup, rice bowls, and sandwiches. The market also is unique in the fact that they are one of only a few campus grocery stores that accept SNAP nutrition benefits along with cards, cash, orange rewards, and dining plan dollars.

3. Bing’s Cafe: Open until 10 pm Monday-Thursday

Bing’s is another Starbucks concept here on campus with all of your usual drink favorites and similar bakery items to RainTree in McNary Dining Center. The differences being that Bing’s has outdoor and indoor seating and offers calzones and sandwiches (the best ones are their breakfast specials in my opinion). Located in Weatherford Hall they are also closer to Weatherford, West, Sackett, Poling, Cauthorn, Buxton, and Hawley Halls. Follow them on Instagram to keep updated with what they’re up to!

4. Food 2 You: Open until 9 pm-12 am Wednesday-Friday

Food 2 You is an on campus delivery service with no tips or delivery charges added on. They offer pizza with cheese made right here on campus, freshly made cookies, soda, coffee, pasta, and salads. They also offer vegan and vegetarian pizza options as well as gluten-free pasta for those with dietary restrictions. You can place your order here.

5. Joe’s Burgers: Open until 9 pm Monday-Friday/ 7 pm Saturday-Sunday

Joe’s Burgers is an Oregon-based chain with locations in Portland, Tigard, Eugene, and right here in Corvallis. They have hot dogs, burgers, soup, salad, sweet potato fries, soda floats, and rotating specials. They also have veggie patties and gluten free buns available.

6. Marketplace West-EBGB’s: Open until 10 pm Sunday-Saturday

EBGBs is a coffee shop and small market located in Marketplace West on the west side of campus. They serve coffee, tea and fresh pastries (muffins, cakes, and croissants, oh my!) and are stocked with drinks, snacks, and ready-to-go meals. They also have quick items such as fruit parfaits made in-house.

7. Valley Library-Java II: Open until 10 pm Sundays/12 am Monday-Thursday

Java II in the Valley Library is great because there are always plenty of seating options, room to spread out when you’re having an intense study session, and of course the food and drinks are fantastic. They have rotating drink specials, yummy treats like pie, breakfast sandwiches for studying all night long, bagels and so much more. You can even tag their Instagram in a photo for a free drink of your choice. So get to drinking and to snapping!

Madeline is a Senior at Oregon State majoring in Merchandising Management and minoring in writing. She was the 2016-'17 president of Chi Theta Phi, a local design sorority on campus. If she's not in class, at a club meeting, chapter, or writing, she's probably spending time with her family, friends, walking her dogs, eating junk food, or watching too many crime, comedy, or fashion shows on Netflix. She likes cheese, dogs, creative projects, obnoxious animal prints, garage sales, farmer's markets, and generally just being silly.
Katherine Borchers is a Junior at Oregon State University and is majoring in Digital Communication Arts. She is involved on campus with Res Life and So Worth Loving at Oregon State. You can find her procrastinating real life responsibilities, drinking coffee, and procrastinating some more. When she procrastinates, she loves to sing loudly (not well, either), read books, and do artsy-fartsy stuff.
