Are you looking for something fun to do with your friends this November? Look no further!
Sigma Delta Omega, a sorority of women who advocate for local K-12 science programs, will be hosting a campus-wide scavenger hunt November 11th-13th where you and your friends can win big while giving back to the community at the same time.
The scavenger hunt, which is artfully dubbed the Mad Scientist Pursuit, is a philanthropy event that benefits K-12 science programs in Corvallis. Due to the current economic hardships being faced by school districts nationwide, there isn’t a better time than now to get involved.
“Currently schools are experiencing budget cuts, especially in the science department,” said Catherine Huang, Philanthropy Co-Chair for Sigma Delta Omega.
Being women in science, Catherine and her sorority sisters appreciate the opportunity to raise money for science programs. “We strive in supporting women to expand female participation in STEM fields and continuously contribute to the STEM community,” Catherine added. Sigma Delta Omega continuously places in the top three for the highest GPA of all sororities on campus, and is currently the Community Value Award recipient for this year.
The scavenger hunt is open to all members of the OSU community, and it is recommended that you sign up as a team to increase your chances of winning. Sigma Delta Omega has a goal of raising $3,000 over the course of the school year, and they look to kick this off by having at least 10 teams participate in the Mad Scientist Pursuit.
Although the hunt isn’t happening until week seven, the deadline to register for the event is November 5th so start planning your team out now! There is an entry fee of just $25 per team, which is due upon entry. All proceeds from the event will go towards local K-12 science programs in the hopes of giving young students the opportunities they need for success in this extremely important field.
If you have any questions about the event or would like to register, check out their website for more information!
