Meet this week’s Campus Profile, Elise Koletar!
Hometown: Salem, Oregon
Year: Sophomore
Major: Journalism
HCO: Why did you decide to go to UO?
EK: I am very close to my family and have three younger siblings. I wanted to go somewhere that was far enough away to be my own place but also close enough that I could see my them if I wanted to. I have also been a Duck fan my whole life.
HCO: Where is your favorite spot in Eugene?
EK: I love the walk to Autzen Stadium, specifically the bridge over the river. It is beautiful over there.
HCO: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities on campus? If so, what?
EK: I decided to join a sorority last year. I am in Chi Omega and I absolutely love it!
HCO: What is your favorite Netflix series?
EK: Friends and How I Met Your Mother
HCO: Who is your celebrity crush?
EK: Justin Bieber (oops) or Channing Tatum
HCO: Who is the most influential person in your life?
EK: Cliché, but my mother. She is the kindest, most genuinely loving person I know and I strive to be like her everyday.
HCO: What is one piece of advice you would give to an incoming freshman about college?
EK: Freshman year is hard. At first, you’re going to really miss your high school and your old friends and your family, you might have to put on a happy face for a while and pretend that you have everything figured out. However, trust me, very soon this place will be your home and you will make friends that you cannot believe you ever lived without. By summer, you will be dying to go back.
HCO: What is your favorite quote?
EK: “Remember that sometimes, not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck” –The Dalai Lama
