Spring term is starting to wrap up, and while you fret about finals, jobs, or graduation, it’s important to take some time for yourself. Finding a place to relax, having a good massage, or discovering a tranquil place to swim or hike might be just what you need to combat the stress of our last term. There are multiple places, such as rejuvenating hot springs, in Oregon and around the Eugene area that spell out the word ‘relax’. Listed below are several natural springs and a few day spas along with their benefits. Don’t be afraid to dip a toe, and give yourself a much needed break.

Terwilliger Hot Springs (aka: Cougar Hot Springs)

Blue River, OR

                                                                    (cmsimg.statesmanjournal.com)

Terwilliger Hot Springs has five soaking pools and a lagoon. For six dollars you have access to all of them and can spend a day relaxing in warm pools under a canopy of green trees or hiking the winding trails. (Clothing is optional).

Bonneville Hot Springs

Bonneville, WA

                                                                            (tripadvisor.com)

Although this one is more of a drive and a bit more expensive, Bonneville offers an indoor and outdoor hot spring water pool and hot tub. They also have incredible spa services from massages to facials to towel wraps. If you have the time, it is perfect for a day trip or for spending the night.

Belknap Hot Springs

McKenzie Bridge, OR

                                                                                      (hotspringfinder.com)

Belknap allows you to stay in a cabin, tent, or RV if you choose, and has a beautiful secret garden to explore after soaking in their hot springs pool. These relaxing activities aren’t the only services offered, try white water rafting down the McKenzie River or hiking the surrounding trails.

Breitenbush Hot Springs

Detroit, OR

                                                                       (improvspirit.com)

With camping, hot springs, organic food, and daily well-being programs, Breitenbush is the definition of relaxation. Far away from distractions and the hustle bustle of everyday life, you’ll be able to de-stress and feel like yourself again.

Benefits of hot spring water

Hot spring water is much different from the water in a regular pool or hot tub. It contains minerals that aid in healing ailments or disease. Minerals like sulfur, calcium, and magnesium are known to have healing properties and can help your relaxation process. Hot spring water can help with blood flow, sleeping conditions such as insomnia, skin disorders like acne and eczema, and pain relief for muscles or diseases.

Getting through spring term can be tough, take the time to pamper yourself, everyone deserves that.
