Last week, the University of Oregon campus closed for essentially three days. For many students, the snow days were the first of their kind for them. About a foot of snow accumulated between Monday and Wednesday and many students experienced brief power outages. Most students were ecstatic about the snow, however many students quickly expressed frustration on social media about the amount of snow and the lack of snow plowed roads.

It is a rare occasion that university officials cancel classes due to weather, however it does happen. With three days of school canceled for many students during week eight, many students are finding this week to be much more stressful than it would have.

“When I woke up Monday morning to the snow covered streets of Eugene, I was so happy my classes were canceled but also so stressed about all the work I had to do. It was definitely fun while it lasted, but coming back to reality was hard,” UO student Hannah Kanik said about last weeks snow.

There are only three weeks remaining in winter term and last week’s “snow week” provided myself and many students with a much needed. Despite the added stress of week nine, many students who had never experienced snow before enjoyed the weather.  With down trees and piles of snow still on campus, the snow excitement still looms around campus this week.
