I don’t know about you, fellow Eugene collegiettes, but I’m sick of all this rain and these dreary grey skies. Not only is it bad for my Vitamin D levels, it’s creating a problem in my outfit variety. There’s only so many ways to look cute in bulky outerwear and Uggs, especially when all I want to do is stay under the covers and wait the rain out in my sweats. That’s one of the many reasons I’m excited for springtime – – not only do we get Spring Break, but we also get those first few rays of sunshine and those first opportunities to put away the Uggs and break out the flip-flops. But what to wear with those flip-flops?
First of all, you’re going to be seeing a lot of pleated skirts once the weather gets warmer. Not the Catholic schoolgirl kind, thank God, but pretty, long, yay-it’s-spring ones. This comes just in time to balance out one of the more risquĂ© trends of the seasons: bra tops: a cross between a bandeau, a bra, and a tank top (so basically, time to start doing crunchies). Mixed with the sweet elegance of the skirt and put together with feminine (with an edge) accessories, these will be two trends you can’t go wrong with – – especially together!
On those cloudy days when jeans are a must, try out a colored pair. Colored pants are a way to add instant zing to any outfit, which is what we all want when we learn Cute Math Class Guy is single. My favorite color to wear is red jeans, which add interest and class by the boatload. Since the pants are already attention-grabbing, mix them with neutrals like white, grey, black, or navy. Keep your accessories simple, with a small pop of color to contrast the pants.
Spring’s new favorite color is (drumroll please) tangerine. This magical color looks good on everybody, and its bright hue is perfect for wearing to your spring break getaway. Keep it sweet and spring-y with light accessories, sandals, and have fun mixing it with fun patterns from the opposite side of the color wheel.
Have fun breaking out the trends and being the most stylishly dressed collegiette when the weather turns warm!
