So it’s officially Christmastime, ya’ll. It’s December, it’s freezing cold, and the term is so close to being over! Ready to really get into that holly jolly mood? Look no further. Simply sit back, relax, watch these movies right down the list to #1, and get ready to be filled to the brim with holiday spirit!
8. A Charlie Brown Christmas
Filled with an enormous number of Christmas carols, friends loving friends, and classic Peanuts characters, you really can’t get much better than this. A cartoon for all ages, it’s never wrong to just stick with this classic, people.
7. The Polar Express
Taken from the picture book so many kids grew up reading, this movie perfectly embodies the holiday themes of Santa Clause and believing in magic. Plus, the main character is voiced by Tom Hanks. And Tom Hanks is just the best, honestly.
6. Arthur Christmas
A newer addition to the Christmas movie category, Arthur Christmas is actually very touching. An outcast in the Clause family is determined to save a Christmas disaster and, spoiler alert, succeeds.
5. Home Alone
Our poor main character, Kevin, just wants to be left alone one Christmas. What does he get? A house to himself, a problem to solve, and one very merry Christmas tale. Plus, we get one of the best movie quotes ever from him; “When I grow up and get married, I’m living alone!”
4. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
The Griswold’s can never catch a break. Whether it be finding their family tree, cooking the Christmas dinner, or lighting the entire house, something always has to go wrong. How does this loving family fix all of them? By having Christmas spirit, of course.
3. Love Actually
Love Actually is actually one of the best holiday movies of all time, hands down. With its many different plots, constant and complicated love stories, and actual countdown to Christmas in the movie itself, there isn’t one time you’ll watch this movie that you won’t shed a few tears. Or a bajillion.
2. A Christmas Story
There really isn’t anything that can beat the old tale in Christmas spirit. Coming in at #2 on the list, it’s simply the sweetest, jolliest, most clever older Christmas movie out there. Innocent, adorable, and of course more than anything, lovable, the family in this movie will absolutely catch your heart.
1. Elf
Elf is truly the Christmas classic, without a doubt. Made slightly more recently than #2, Elf has quickly made its way to the top of the Christmas movie list. Taking #1, Elf just pleases everyone, no matter what age or gender you are. It’s become a staple of the family Christmastime experience as a movie that everyone can laugh at, filled with clever wit, jokes, and plots. And Buddy the Elf is probably the best character ever created. Ever.
