5 Columbus Christmas Activities for the Perfect Winter Date Night

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OSU chapter.

With finals season coming to a close and Christmas around the corner, it can be hard to find spontaneous ways to celebrate with your partner. No worries, because here are five fun ways you and your significant other can get into the Christmas spirit around the Columbus area!

1. Columbus zoo wildlights

If you enjoy spending time checking out Christmas light displays, then you will love the Columbus Zoo WildLights! Open every night, you can walk through the Columbus Zoo and look at millions of lights set up throughout the zoo. Not only is looking at lights a fun way to spend time with your partner, but according to the Columbus Zoo website, there are other festivities offered as well, including a food truck, marshmallow roast, light show and more!

2. Gateway Classics

If you’re a Christmas movie fan like me, then you’re going to want to check out Gateway’s Holiday Film Classics event. Each year, the Gateway Film Center shows multiple holiday classics that change every weekend until Christmas, which is a perfect way to pass the time with a significant other. With classic films like “White Christmas” to more recent movies such as “Elf,” there’s sure to be a film for everyone (and students get a discount)!

3. carriage ride at easton

Instead of going for a night-time drive with your partner, a great way of spicing it up is opting for a carriage ride instead! Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Dec. 19, Easton Town Center offers a horse-drawn carriage ride through the Easton Town District. It’s a perfect way to unwind after a long shopping trip or dinner.

4. Columbus holiday lights

If you’re on a budget and are seeking for a cheaper alternative to the Columbus Zoo lights, you can make a date out of the Columbus Christmas Lights which are free to attend and include music and more! Located at Columbus Commons, the lights are lit up every single night through December. If you’re craving dinner, there are plenty of food options available just a short walk away from the display!

5. ice skating

When it comes to finding a date that’s not Christmas-exclusive, try the ice rink! There are countless options in the Columbus area. If you’re looking for an indoor option, try the Newark ice area. If you’re feeling adventurous and want to skate outside, try the Mighty Children’s Museum. Not only are skating dates fun, but it can be a good laugh when you and your partner aren’t the best on the ice.
