Though she may not [yet] be a huge name on campus, Sarah’s involvement (pictured at right) at Ohio State deserves not to go unrecognized. She’s a part of the Media, Marketing, and Communication Scholars Program, for which she is the Freshman Coordinator. Sarah is also the Show Point Officer for the Ohio State Equestrian Team and the Co-Outreach Coordinator for the EcoCAR Team, which is an engineering competition that has students redesign a 2013 Chevy Malibu.

HC: What made you decide to get so involved on campus?
SJ: I love to feel like a big place is a small environment. My high school was big, so I knew that getting involved would make this huge place a lot smaller. I also like to be busy.
Â
HC: How did you become involved in the Equestrian Team and EcoCAR?
SJ: I’ve been [horseback] riding since 7th grade. In middle school and high school I was involved in the Interscholastic Equestrian Association, which is a miniature version of collegiate sports.
I got involved with EcoCAR before I was even a student; I received information about it. I thought it’d be great to get involved and become a Co-Outreach Coordinator.
Â
HC: How do you balance your extracurricular activities with education?
SJ: It’s very difficult. Most days I usually run around like a crazy person. It takes A LOT of time management. High school got me prepared for it.
Â
HC: What are your career goals after graduation?
SJ: I kind of want to go to grad school for education because I love little kids. I’d like to be a nanny, but I’d also be okay with doing marketing for a major company. I’m flexible.
Â
HC: Why did you choose to come to Ohio State?
SJ: I thought OSU was just a better fit for me as a person and I knew that there were tons of other things to get involved with. Coming in as a scholar it was nice to know a group of people before school started. And my dad also came here for law school.
Â
HC: What has been your favorite memory of being a Buckeye?
SJ: Our equestrian team went to nationals last year. Also, being a part of the Eco team and going to Washington, D.C. for awards night. We had it in the Library of Congress.
