February is here, which means it is officially Black History Month! If you weren’t aware, this month is for honoring the history and culture of the Black community, and one of the many ways we can do this is by supporting and uplifting Black-owned businesses. Our purchasing decisions hold immense power, and by showing support, we can honor Black entrepreneurs and help contribute to economic empowerment within the Black community.

In recognition of this month, I have compiled a list of some of my favorite Black-owned brands ranging from beauty to clothing to self-care. Uplifting Black-owned businesses is pivotal for the growth of the Black community, so let’s strengthen the impact by continuously showing support this month and year-round!

1. Topicals – Skincare for all.

This brand has truly changed the game in the world of skincare. Founded in 2020 by Harvard and UCLA grad Olamide Olowe, Topicals is a skincare brand aiming to transform how people feel about their skin. Through its formulas with scientifically proven ingredients that benefit your skin, Topicals creates safe and effective skincare products for all skin types. Not to mention, their product packaging and brand marketing are next level! You might be most familiar with their Faded Serum for Dark Spots & Discoloration or their Faded Brightening Under Eye Masks. As a consistent Topicals supporter, I can attest that their products work!

2. Thirteen Lune – Your destination for all things beauty and wellness.

Founded by beauty entrepreneur Nyakio Grieco, Thirteen Lune is an e-commerce store that carries almost exclusively (90%) beauty products from a variety of Black and Brown-owned companies. I first discovered this brand from Black social media influencer and angel investor Hannah Bronfman. With its flagship store being situated in the beautiful Larchmont Village of California, I got a chance to experience Thirteen Lune in person during a visit to California! I can confidently say that Thirteen Lune is a dream. It carries everything beauty- and wellness-related including makeup, skincare, haircare and more. The best part of Thirteen Lune is the platform it provides to uplift Black and Brown brands and promote the stories of each founder.

3. Too Collective – helping to embrace all parts of you.

Too Collective is a leisure company that creates fun, functional apparel that makes it easy to incorporate self-care into your daily life. Their most popular products are the Too Cozy Robe and the Too Classic Robe with various patches to add on. Too Collective was founded by lifestyle content creator Alexis Barber whose inspiration behind this brand was to inspire individuals to live their true, authentic selves instead of conforming and focusing on what others think of them; we love that!

4. FORVR Mood – Your reminder to cherish and pamper yourself each day.

FORVR Mood is a luxury lifestyle brand started by OG beauty influencer and YouTube vlogger Jackie Aina. As a Black woman, Jackie established this brand with a vision to empower Black women, emphasizing their deserving nature of indulging in self-care and luxury. FORVR Mood offers quality products including candles and fragrances that encourage their customers to cherish and pamper themselves each and every day.

5. STRIPT Official – Your new go-to for fashionable athleisure wear.

STRIPT Official, founded by Arianna Davis, is a modern comfort wear brand reshaping the fashion world with its commitment to inclusivity and empowerment for all women. Some of their most popular products include bodysuits, leggings and dresses, all offered in many different styles. STRIPT Official encourages women to embrace vulnerability as strength and celebrate their authenticity!
