Coming back to school after three months of summer vacation can be a huge adjustment. Luckily, if you are struggling to adjust, SUNY Oswego offers different opportunities to keep your mental health in check!
1.  The “Let’s Talk” program on campus
This program is a brief consultation counseling service that travels to different places on campus for walk-in hours. Sponsored by the Counseling Services Center of Mary Walker, this is a convenient chance to talk about  any stressors in your life!

2. Join Glimmerglass and Cooper Gyms
These gyms offer personal training and group exercise classes that not only keep you motivated, but also introduce you to new people! Exercising is a great break from homework and any other mental hurdles, and truly promotes both physical and mental health. Be sure to check out any fitness based events that are happening on campus. Also, Lakeside Yoga is sometimes hosted behind Johnson Hall!

3. Grab some friends and join a campus recreation team
Intramural sports are a great way to get your mind focused on the game and away from your stressors. Plus, you’ll meet more people and have some great photo opportunities with your friends after a nice win!
4. Go to Rice Creek for a quick hike
Nothing settles a mind more than nature. And since the fall is definitely making an appearance here in Oswego, the view will be beautiful.

5. Hit the library alone
Your friends are the people who get you through tough times in college, but they also are the people distracting you from getting that first paper done! Designate an hour or two to hit the library or another quiet place to knock out some homework. The less work in your planner, the less stress in your head.
6. TAKE A NAP
Three words every college student desires to hear. Twenty minute power naps feel like nothing when you’re in college. Thirty to forty five minute naps are enough time to rest and give yourself some time to breathe. It’s okay to slow down, in fact, it’s recommended!
Take advantage of these stress relievers on campus and good luck on the rest of your semester!
