Comparing Coachella Fashion Trends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oswego chapter.

I think going to Coachella is on everyone’s bucket list. I know it’s on mine! Who doesn’t want to be surrounded by drunk, super chill hippies while jamming to awesome music?! OK, maybe not the drunk part, but everything else sounds fun.

Fashion is definitely one of the best, if not THE best part of Coachella. It’s the one day when you can combine every hippy accessory and piece of clothing you own where most people won’t judge you for it (probably not the best idea, but at least you have the option).

We all know that every year there are a slew of new trends that fashionistas need to try out and Coachella is the perfect place to try out those trends. Let’s compare trends from 2014 and 2015 and how people used those trends during Coachella!

Coachella 2014 trend highlights:

  • Matching pieces
  • Delicate jewelry
  • Pleated skirts
  • Bucket bags

Coachella 2015 trend highlights:

  • Culottes
  • Fringe
  • Bohemian
  • Denim

Coachella 2014:

When wearing a matching set, wearing a cropped version or a short skirt will make the outfit less overwhelming just like it’s shown in this picture.

You don’t have to show a lot of skin when going to Coachella. A long pleated maxi skirt can class up your look while still being the laid-back, bohemian Coachella girl.

Bucket bags make outfits more laid-back and create a no-hassle easy-going aura.

Coachella 2015:

Culottes have been taking the Coachella world by storm! This look is a two-in-one trend with the pictured woman wearing a pair of denim culottes.

You can easily look like a cowboy when wearing fringe and Gigi Hadid pulls it off with relaxed hair and a lace crop-top.

Just remember, Coachella is about being laid-back and a free spirit. So show that through your fashion respectively while dancing the night away!

I'm known as kind of being a hippy who loves to meditate, do yoga, and listen to music. I'm always up for an adventure and am interested in living creatively, working for a bigger purpose, and continuing my adventures around the world!
