Lindsay Devendorf is a junior at SUNY Oswego. The human development major from Syracuse, N.Y. is involved with Active Minds and the MOST program, which stands for Mentors Offering Support to Transfers.
“As a transfer student myself, I was given a transfer mentor last year to help me through the transition to a new school and that is what I do for my mentees right now.” Lindsay also got involved with the MOST program because of the great experience she got out of being a mentee last year.
She started doing Active Minds because of the great message it sends to everyone about mental illnesses and the effort to remove the stigma that mental illness can often bring with them.
Lindsay came to Oswego after beginning college at SUNY Fredonia. The school wasn’t the right fit and she wanted to go somewhere closer to Syracuse.
Her favorite part about Oswego, like many students, is being so close to the lake. “When the weather is nice I love to go down by the lake with my friends and watch the sunset or walk to Bev’s to get ice cream and sit by the lake.”
After college, Lindsay would like to work with children, maybe play therapy or some type of counseling.
Even though she doesn’t have one favorite memory of Oswego, Lindsay says that the best things at Oswego happen when she has done fun activities with her friends, like going to the hockey games.
