The cheerleaders at SUNY Oswego have beenÂ
preparing for College Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida sinceSeptember 2011. The team practices each week and fundraised non-stop  in order to compete. The club has 18 girls who have been cheering for basically their whole life. Girls have to try out in either the spring or fall semester to make it on the team.
Nationals is a competition against various teams from all over the U.S. The Oswego State
 cheerleaders are in the division 3 all-girl. The team has to send in a skills video in order to qualify for Nationals in April. The Oswego cheer team competes against teams like Elmira, Cortland, and Erie Community College etc. The competition starts on Thursday April 11th and depending on how good each team does allows them the chance to compete at finals the next day.
Finals are located right on Daytona Beach in front of a large audience. The mat stretches across the sand with dozens of screaming fans and ESPN camera crews surrounding the area.The Oswego State Cheerleaders hope to make it to finals this year to compete right on the beach. Be sure to wish the team good luck before they set out on their journey
to FloridaÂ
