If you are like a lot of people, you might have waited until the last minute to decide what you would be for Halloween. Especially in college with classes and jobs, finding a Halloween costume can be one of the last on our lists. However, given this is the last week of October and you might need to put one together at the last minute, here are some ideas you could rock with into Halloween weekend.

The first is Barbie. Barbie is going to be everywhere this year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t dress as Barbie or “Barbie Core”. Barbie is a simple costume because there can be a variety of ways to dress. Yes, if you have pink that is great, but you don’t always need pink, it just depends on what Barbie you decide to choose. This is why it’s an easy last-minute idea as if you might have something in your wardrobe. I recommend that if you do this, try leaning towards more bright tones, sparkly items, and accessories such as jewelry, headbands, hats, and bags. The possibilities are endless with this costume given the variety of the dolls that have come out throughout the years.

The second costume is a nostalgic 2000’s idea, the PowerPuff Girls. This costume might not seem last minute, but it really can be, and works well if you’re looking for a trio or group costume. For this, I will be focusing on Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup. If you don’t have a pink, blue, or green dress that is okay, instead try to find a top or jacket in that color. In the case you have a top or jacket of pink, blue, or green, wear black bottoms with it, even adding a black belt. I recommend that if it is getting chilly and you wear a black skirt or shorts, add tights or stockings underneath. All that is left after that is to add black shoes or shoes that color coordinate with the character. For another fun touch, you can add accessories such as scrunchies pertaining to the color associated with a character. Ribbons also work, especially if you take on the costume of Blossom; in this case, the ribbon or scrunchie would be red.

A third and final possible option is Snoopy and Woodstock. I’ve seen quite a lot of Pinterest and other socials giving Snoopy content, so this is a perfect idea for anyone who grew up watching The Peanuts or likes the aesthetic. This can be a solo or duo costume and is quite easy to do. For Snoopy, I recommend just wearing a white top and black bottoms. You can even add a black choker to mimic Snoopy’s collar and add half-up half-down pigtails to your hair to create the ears of Snoopy. As for Woodstock, all you have to do is get some yellow pieces of clothing, especially if they’re more flowy. If you have a yellow bandana, you can tie it up top to create the little pieces of hair that Woodstock has coming out of their head.

Although these were some options, there are way more costumes you can create, especially in the nick of time. I recommend using Pinterest if you still want more options to look into but don’t stress if you are in this predicament. Instead, scroll through some pages and look through your closet, you might be surprised at how easily you can create a costume within the things you already have. Besides, if you are anything like me you also are balling on a budget, so this is not only a time saver, but a money saver for any college students out there. Finally, just remember to enjoy the costume festivities and stay safe while doing so over this Halloween Weekend.

Hello, I am Leila LaJoie (she/her). I go by Leila, but sometimes people call me Laine. I am a 22-year-old senior at SUNY Oswego. I double major in Journalism and English, so I have always had a love for writing in general. In my free time I enjoy writing, reading, dancing, listening to music and going on walks. As far as what I focus on while writing, I'm very open, it really depends on what I'm into at the moment as well as what is going on around my environment. I am grateful for the opportunity to start this journey on Her Campus, as it will allow for me to have a writing outlet that can kickstart and further me into my career. It also will allow me to hear more about others' stories and experiences. A stepping stool if you will to my future and connections to be made.
