As college students, we’ve all experienced the feeling of logging onto Blackboard and being displeased by the amount of work we need to get done. Here are a couple tips to help you tackle your assignments and succeed throughout the fall semester.
Don’t leave for tomorrow what can be done today. If you have the time to complete a task, don’t put it off to the following day, start it in that moment. Basically, what I’m saying is do NOT procrastinate. Speaking from experience, it just causes excessive stress that you do not need as a college student. Trust me, you’ll feel much better if you get the work out of the way and can enjoy some free time.
Set goals for the semester! To stay motivated, I like to write down a list of things I want to accomplish for the Fall semester. These goals could be as simple as joining a club or more challenging endeavors such as getting a 4.0 gpa. Whatever your goals are, just make sure they are somewhat realistic and tangible. If you complete the goals on your list by the end of the semester, reward yourself, you deserve it!
Stay organized. Personally, writing down the syllabi for my classes in a planner helps me get ahead on assignments. By doing this, I can see an overview of my semester and be prepared for what is to come. I make sure to write down any important dates, such as club meetings, due dates or exam days in the calendar so I don’t miss anything. If a planner isn’t your thing, you could always use your phone to write down any important dates or tasks you need to complete.
Manage your time! Time management is something I have always struggled with, but it is a skill that is needed throughout your academic career. Make sure to set aside enough time to study for exams, especially during midterms and finals! When writing papers or completing any assignment make sure you have enough time to achieve a finished product you are satisfied with.
Working hard all week and attending your classes can get exhausting, try to set a day you can use to relax. I usually use Sunday’s as a day for self-care. This could mean doing a face mask, hair mask, or simply staying in all day and watching your favorite Netflix show. Whatever will help you clear your mind and get you ready to start a new week.
Overall try to have a positive mindset throughout the semester. Steer away from self-doubt and strive for success! Hope these tips help you get through the Fall semester or at least save you from an unwanted headache!
