1. Beauty Products
You know those silicone sponges that have been all over your Facebook? Well, I picked one up in Hong Kong for like $1. I am convinced they have been using these forever and we’re just now jumping on the bandwagon. Do not even get me started about the sheet masks. My skin has never looked better than when I lived in Hong Kong!
2. Dumplings
I ate so many dumplings in Hong Kong – I am surprised I didn’t turn into one. But when they’re so good and readily available, how could I say no?
3. Being served hot tea with every meal
Whenever you sit down at a restaurant in Hong Kong, they bring you a pot of hot tea. At first it was a little strange considering how hot it was outside, but now when a waiter brings me water, a little part of me can’t help wishing it were tea.
4. Public transportation
The public transportation in Hong Kong was AMAZING! It was unbelievably clean and trains came every 3 minutes. Forget about train delays. The MTA pales in comparison.
5. 7/11
I am sure you are wondering why I miss 7/11 considering that we have them here. But you don’t understand, American 7/11’s could not be more different from the ones in Hong Kong. They are a gathering place on the weekends and somewhere you know you can get a meal whether it be a sandwich, sushi, or even dumplings. You could not pay me to eat at an American 7/11.
6. Dim sum
Dim sum is one of the greatest things ever. Gather a small group of your closest friends, order far too many small dishes and go to town. Some of my favorite meals in Hong Kong were spent feasting on too many orders of cha siu bao.
7. The skyline
I know, I know, the New York skyline is pretty, but nothing can beat the Hong Kong skyline. With the largest number of skyscrapers in the world, you cannot help but be amazed. Take the star ferry across the water during the day or at night, it’s an equally breathtaking experience.
