If you couldn’t get tickets for SZA’s S.O.S. tour, you could be in luck. On April 12, SZA posted on Instagram, “Let’s RUN THIS BACK !!!” along with plenty of tour dates for cities in Europe and North America. When I saw this, I nearly passed out. I was devastated when I couldn’t get tickets for the first leg of the S.O.S tour. I was determined to get tickets for this time around. For the European leg, British singer RAYE will open the tour. However, SZA hasn’t announced who will be opening the second leg of the North American tour. I am curious about who will be the opener; however, I am upset that RAYE will not be the opener for the second leg in America.
The S.O.S. tour marks SZA’s first time headlining an arena tour. Although she went on tour for her album Ctrl (pronounced ‘control’), it was performed at smaller and more intimate venues. Five years later, SZA is headlining venues such as Madison Square Garden and Barclay’s Center. The concert typically consisted of 28 songs, opening with “PSA,” a track that will be on the S.O.S deluxe album. As an encore, she performed “Good Days” and teased the music video for her song “Low.” However, SZA has switched up the setlist and brought out special guests such as Summer Walker, Cardi B, and Phoebe Bridgers during the first leg. Across social media, fans raved about SZA’s performance and wished the night had not ended. From what I have seen, SZA gives her all (vocals, choreography, visuals, etc.) for each city where she performs.
Although I didn’t get tickets for the first leg, I have seen plenty of videos on social media. Will there be changes made for the second leg? Will there be a change in the setlist? New outfits or special effects? With the deluxe version of S.O.S. rumored to be released this summer, I assume SZA would perform those songs, along with songs from Ctrl and the original S.O.S. Although I would be okay with SZA for the entire time, I wonder if she will bring out any guests. I can imagine Doja Cat performing at a concert and singing “Kiss Me More” or “Kill Bill” (Remix). However, I am lucky and grateful to have gotten tickets. I am counting down the days until I see SZA live. I can’t wait to see what she does in October.
