Whether or not you read it in high school or saw the incredible movie featuring Daniel Day Lewis and Winona Rider, The Crucible by Arthur Miller has come back to Broadway!
Â
The Crucible, which is set in Massachusetts in the year 1692, tells the dramatic yet fictionalized story of young girls being captivated by the obsession of witchcraft, as their obsession turns the town of Salem, Mass. into mass hysterics, leading to multiple innocent death’s. As my sister and I couldn’t help ourselves from quoting the famous lines, this play revival is the BEST that I’ve seen in a very long time! Even though Broadway takes the play into a new direction, the incredible story and message is still alive and delivers the same sensation that I felt when I read it back in sophomore year English class. Thanks Mrs. Shaprio!
Â
With its stellar cast featuring Ben Whishaw, who was in the James Bond movie SkyFall, plays the martyr and fearless John Proctor as well as Saoirse Ronan acting as Abigail Williams whom you may know her from the film Brooklyn, which she received an Academy Award nominee for her outstanding performance.
