Style Guide: Conquering Summer Business Attire

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pace chapter.

Dressing for the job may be a challenge enough, now add in hot weather. Maintaing a professional look while remaining cool is a difficult balance. Here are some tips and outfit inspiration to help you dress for that summer internship.

A loose look is one of my favorite go-to styles. Not only is it comfortable but you look chic and can remain cool. Ditch your tight fitting button down and opt for a loose dress shirt alternative. Choose your fabrics wisely, cotton and linen based fabrics are best for remaining cool.

Cigarette pants are chic and comfortable. Pair it with a button down, tote bag and a statement flat and you have a simple professional look!

If you’re anyting like me, you don’t always feel like putting on pants. Break out your peasant skirt and pair it with a bootie and a loose top. Add a lightweight blazer or trench for added business flair. Oh – and don’t forget the watch!

Combat the heat with lighter colors. Be bold and go monochromatic! Choose a simple patterned statement pant and pair it with a silk tank. Flats, booties or heels can work with this outfit.

Having a summer business dress on hand is always a good idea. It’s a quick pick for those late mornings. Try a pattern or a solid color, add a bun, jewels and a pump and you’re out the door! No better way to stay cool in the summer than in a loose, fun dress!

Hey guys, my name is Cas. I am a Senior at Pace Univeristy on the NYC campus. I am currently working on a dual degree in Communications and Fine Arts. I've been working with some friends of mine to start up our own creative platform called FUNKNVIBE. It's basically a way for artists, musicians, film makers and any creative minds to collaborate and create. When I'm not volunteering or with my FNV family I'm reading, dancing or working on my latest art piece. I hope to own and design my own publication showcasing the culture around me. I have a personal blog as well as my Her Campus page. I recently started up a blog with FunknVibe so definitely check it out!  I started out as the secretary at for HCPace but moved my way to VP and CC to now President. I love being able to give students on my campus a voice and connect new students to some type of a community. Her Campus has allowed me to organize myself better and find out what goes into running an organization. It's been an absolute joy and I hope for my last year we have one of the best!
