With the start of the next leg of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour also comes new openers including Sabrina Carpenter. Most will remember being introduced to Carpenter as Maya Hart in the Disney Channel show Girl Meets World, which first premiered in June of 2014. Although that role jumpstarted Carpenter’s career, it isn’t where it all started. Carpenter’s singing career started when she posted her very first YouTube cover of Taylor Swift’s “Picture to Burn” back in 2009, and her acting career began just a year later with her first guest role on NBC’s drama Law & Order: SVU.

In 2014, Carpenter signed a deal with Hollywood Records and quickly released her first single titled, “Can’t Blame a Girl for Trying” followed shortly with her debut EP. At only 16 years old, Carpenter released her debut album Eyes Wide Open, but Carpenter didn’t take a break, later releasing her sophomore album, EVOLution. This release also led to Carpenter’s first Gold-certified single in the United States with the lead single “Thumbs.” Any “Thumbs” ‘stans’ will be sad to hear that Carpenter has recently admitted that she dislikes performing that song, so we will likely not be seeing her perform it anytime soon.

Soon after, Carpenter geared up to release her third album which originally consisted of 17 tracks. Ultimately they decided to split this album into two separate albums due to the differences in lyric content. Singular: Act 1 was released in November 2018 with notable tracks including “Sue Me” and “Paris.” The second part of the album was released a year later titled Singular: Act 2.

Sabrina announced she signed with Island Records an imprint of Universal Music Group in January 2021, with her first single under them released shortly after titled, “Skin.” The song debuted at number 48 on the Billboard Hot 100, also marking Sabrina’s first time making it on the chart. Sabrina’s fifth studio album (and my personal favorite) titled emails i can’t send was released on July 15, 2022. This album consists of 13 songs including “because i liked a boy” and “Fast Times.” Carpenter has no doubt had great success with this album, debuting at 23 on the US Billboard and making it Carpenter’s most successful album thus far. This album feels like the definition of pop music!

Carpenter has been touring nonstop throughout the United States the past year, performing her new album as well as covers that are quick to go viral on TikTok. Since then, Carpenter has joined Taylor Swift on tour, and there has been a noticeable jump in her popularity with people finally recognizing these sensational pop hits. emails i can’t send is a no-skips album, and if you haven’t given it a listen yet, it’s not too late!
