Remember when Black Tap was all the rage? The wait for one of their humongous $14 milkshakes was hours on end. I am going to share five of the hottest/soon to be hottest food places you MUST try!
Hot Spot #1:
dŌ: Cookie Dough Confections
Do you love raw cookie dough? Are you afraid of getting sick from eating too much? Say no more!
Located at 550 LaGuardia Place, dŌ takes everyone’s dream of eating raw cookie dough and makes it a reality (without the negative side effects) for the affordable price range of $4 – $9. It’s a short subway swipe away from Pace University’s One Pace Plaza via the A/C train. Board the train at Fulton Street and get off at West 4th, the total travel time is only 20 minutes! If you prefer, you could also take the 6 train from the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall stop and be there in about 18 minutes.
A variety of 13 flavors are offered daily. These flavors include classics like: chocolate chip, sugar cookie and brownie batter, signature combinations like “Heavenly” (sugar cookie dough plus Nutella, Chocolate Chips, Caramel bits and sea salt) are also available for purchase. Another great option is “Nuts for Nuts” this signature combo includes peanut butter, Reese’s peanut butter cups and Reese’s pieces. Last but not least are their seasonal favorites, winters include: red velvet, cake batter and sugar and kisses. Get them before they disappear! dŌ comes in a cup with the option for one, two or three scoops with just dough or ice cream as well. They also offer milkshakes and baked goods such as cookies or cookie ice cream sandwiches. Even better…they now offer vegan chocolate chip and snickerdoodle dough.

Pommes Frites: The Best French Fries in New York City!
Pommes frites offers Belgian french fries with a variety of 30+ garnish and sauce options. Prices range from $5.75 to $8.75. I know what you’re thinking, what makes these fries so special? Their secret is…they fry them TWICE! Once to thoroughly cook the freshly cut potatoes and the second to give them their golden color and crispy bite. Located at 128 MacDougal St., it is less than 20 minutes away from campus, just hop on the A/C at Fulton and get off at West 4th Street.

Snowdays: Brooklyn, NY
Snowdays is the hottest new trend. There’s ice cream, there’s shaved ice but, have you tried…shaved ice cream?
Shaved ice cream is the newest trend in frozen desserts, it is an evolution of Taiwanese and Korean shaved ices. This dessert pairs the fluffy texture of snow with the taste and creaminess of ice cream.

Are you indecisive? Do you love Chipotle and Smashburger? I know I’ve had a hard time choosing between the two. Well, your dilemma is solved! Burgrito’s offers the best of both worlds. You can opt for a burger or a regular burrito/bowl but if you’re craving both, for $9.99 you can get a Burgrito. This magical concoction is made up of hamburger, tomato, chipotle sauce, cheese, french fries, bacon, lettuce and onion all wrapped and served as a burrito. How cool is that? The best part? Most items on the menu are $9.99 or less!

Amorino Gelato: Chelsea
Located at 162 8th Avenue in Chelsea is Amorino Gelato. With 20+ flavors to choose from and some of the richest hot chocolate around, this hot spot should definitely make your to do list! You can get gelato in a bowl, on a waffle or in a wafer cone with the option of one, two or three scoops and it only costs between $5 and $7. They will gladly shape your gelato it into flower petals for you! How fitting, since spring is right around the corner!
