Walt Disney World Park Rides That Slay

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pace chapter.

Walt Disney World is home to four theme parks with the most amazing rides. However, these are the rides that absolutely slay and that are a must do for your next vacation. From heart-racing launches to classic rides there is something in this list that is perfect for everyone.

The TWILIGHT ZONE TOWER OF TERROR

Let’s start with a classic! The Tower of Terror is located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and is the park icon. Opening in June 1994, the ride has been terrorizing individuals each day. While I am a fan of the California Adventure’s re-theming to Guardians of the Galaxy โ€“ Mission: Breakout!ย I honestly do not see this theme coming to Hollywood Studios. The tower is just too iconic to miss, even if you are a bit scared!

SOARIN’ around the world

Okay, confession. I only recently just rode this attraction for the first time in May 2022. I was pleasantly surprised and loved the smells, sights, and overall experience this ride gives you! If you want a break from the fast-paced rollercoasters this may be the ride for you to try.

STAR WARS: RISE OF THE RESISTanCE

I think this is the best attraction of all time. The first time I rode this I was shocked to my core. Yes, I did blush at Poe Dameron. Yes, I did freak out over seeing Finn it is just how I am! This ride gives you everything. The storyline, action, visuals, and ride are so magical. If you do anything, ride this ride! I could talk about this adventure for days, but I do not want to spoil the awesomeness.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

This is the most intense ride on Walt Disney World property. This ride is not for the faint of heart, and for true rockstars. Launching into darkness, Aerosmith classics being blasted in the ride vehicle, and so many loops, twists, and turns for true coaster fanatics. I will admit, I am terrified of coasters, but I will also have the courage to do this ride.

Star Tours โ€“ The Adventures Continue

Since Galaxy’s Edge opened, this ride has kinda been forgotten about. However, I am in love with it. Having C-3PO as the main character in this attraction makes the ride fun and thrilling. Before you run into Galaxy’s Edge please be sure to experience this. Also, you get a ton of A/C.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

I am going to say it. I did not like The Great Movie Ride. Mickey & Minnie’s is over-hated and is such a cute ride! My favorite part is the animation, hidden mickeys, and the catchy song “Nothing Can Stop Us Now”!

Muppet vision: 3d

Hold your booing! I love this attraction, and it always has a short wait time. My favorite part of this experience is Rizzo the Rat pretending to be Mickey Mouse in the pre-show. If they close this ride, I will probably cry! Also, it has amazing A/C and comfy chairs.

Space mountain

This one is a recent favorite of mine. For a while I was a huge Big Thunder Mountain fan, but this is just a bit more intense and funner for my current life choices. Honestly, this ride is perfect for all ages! I will say that personally it was worth it to buy the Genie + to skip the line. Whether you go alpha or omega you are sure to have a fun expedition into the darkness of space!

You may be asking yourself, “Alysa why are there no Animal Kingdom attractions!”. I am going, to be honest, I have not been to that park since I was a child and only rode Kilimanjaro Safaris when I was there. My apologies to the few people who enjoy Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Honorable mentions:

  • Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor (YES this is my favorite show at Disney)
  • Journey Into Imagination With Figment
  • The Peoplemover
  • The Haunted Mansion
  • Toy Story Mania!
  • The tram ride from the Magic Kingdom parking lot to the TTC
