As we revel in the beauty of Red (Taylor’s Version), us Swifties are now onto the hunt for the next album to be re-recorded. It’s been a toss up in determining which of Taylor Swift’s original albums will be re-recorded. While everyone has been set on 1989 being the next re-record, there have been hints that Speak Now may actually be the next album that Swift will drop.
As she’s been extremely active on TikTok, many of Swift’s older songs have started to become trends, from “Wildest Dreams” to “All Too Well” and “Champagne Problems.” The latest Swift song to gain popularity on the app is “Enchanted,” which is from Swift’s third album, Speak Now. As her songs climb on the TikTok charts, Swift continues to drop hints about her new music on her accounts. ICYMI, Swift has a private account on TikTok called @absolutelynottaylorswift. She’s only posted four videos so far, three of which have been Easter eggs for Red (Taylor’s Version), including small clips of “22” and “All Too Well,” and a hint to her limited edition Starbucks drink, Taylor’s Latte. However, one silent video puzzled fans more than anything. Taylor posted a short video that featured a picture from her infamous Speak Now World Tour, accompanied by a muted version of “Enchanted.” This seemingly hints that Speak Now may be the next album to be released in the “Taylor’s Version” format. I’m really hoping that Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) will be released next, as it holds a special place in my heart as my first concert.
However, there is still the possibility that 1989 (Taylor’s Version) may be coming next. After the announcement of Red (Taylor’s Version), in the middle of what felt like the longest wait of our lives, Taylor unexpectedly dropped “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version).” This was one of Swift’s most popular singles from the original release of 1989. This surprise release came from the rising trend of “Wildest Dreams” on TikTok. It seems that Swift is using TikTok as somewhat of a guide as to what to release next, relying on her fans to tell her what they want. I think we all want her to finally release, well, all of it (especially her debut album, Taylor Swift, and, my personal favorite, Reputation). While there have been no signs of Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version) or Reputation (Taylor’s Version) dropping any time soon, they will come eventually. But the sudden release of “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)” made fans wonder if Swift was hinting at the fact that 1989 (Taylor’s Version) may be the next re-record to drop.
Swift is infamous for her usage of Easter eggs. She’s planted many hints – some of which we may not have even noticed yet. There is no telling when Swift will announce the next “Taylor’s Version,” but evidence strongly suggests that the next re-records to drop are Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and 1989 (Taylor’s Version). Only time will tell when Swift will decide to bless us again with another re-record, but I know we are all just praying that it’s soon. But for now, we have to watch for Swift’s Easter eggs and try to decode anything that is posted in the time being. Let’s just hope the wait doesn’t feel like the eternity that Red (Taylor’s Version) felt like.
