What is something on your bucket list that you want to do?

“There are a couple of items on my bucket list that I hope to get to before my senior year of college ends. A few of them that I’d like to do is learn how to surf and go paintballing.  If I have the time, I’d also like to make a video that shows the life that I had here at Pepperdine. I want to remember what a great college Pepperdine was to me and the many inspiring professors and friends that I’ve come to know.”

What’s the one place you like to go out to eat with your friends?

“I usually like to go out to eat KBBQ with friends and get boba or shaved ice afterwards. I really like all kinds of foods so most of the time I would be up for eating anything.”

What’s your ideal date spot or ideal date?

“My ideal date spot would probably be somewhere fun and exciting like a carnival or amusement park. The beach is also a good place to spend time at along with having a picnic.”

What is something you will miss once you graduate?

“Definitely all of the friends that I’ve made! Coming to Pepperdine, I didn’t realize how fast the years would go by, and now that it’s my senior year, I’m just coming to the realization that all of us are going our own ways. Other than my wonderful friends, who I love so much, I also have to say that I would miss the gorgeous view of the ocean! Living here in Malibu, where the beaches and sunsets are always beautiful, I will definitely miss the view when I graduate.”

What’s the most spontaneous thing you have done?

“When I went to study abroad in Switzerland, I spontaneously decided to buy a ticket to Barcelona, Spain! I was taking a class and working in Switzerland so I didn’t have much time to travel, but one day, I just felt adventurous and wanted to go experience something new! I took a train for 8 hours to Barcelona by myself and was supposed to meet a friend who was actually studying there. Without any phone service or way of contact while I was going to Spain, it really worried me that I wouldn’t be able to meet her in the location and time we set for ourselves. I also didn’t know how to speak Spanish, so that made me worry even more! Luckily, even though we were both late at getting to the train station, it all worked out in the end and my trip to Barcelona was the best time that I’ve ever had!”

Which memory at Pepperdine University makes you laugh and smile the most?

“All of the memories that I’ve made here at Pepperdine always make me smile. One particular memory that I will always remember is my spring break road trip to San Francisco! My friends and I decided to go around the city by riding the bikes we rented. It was hilarious because at the end of our day, we were all struggling to ride up all the steep hills that San Francisco is so well known for! In my opinion, I literally felt like I was going to pass out right in the middle of the road; I didn’t want to move. Overall, it was a fun experience, and although we were all exhausted, we were still enjoying every second of the way.”

Hola, mi llamo Marissa Hernandez. Hey, I'm Marissa Hernandez, and I am a senior studying Psychology at Pepperdine University. I am involved and an active member of Alpha Kappa Psi, Business Fraternity and I am currently working on campus through the theater department. I am very passionate about art and working with children. I hope to one day open my own center that is primarily focused on children and teens, through the involvement of art, sports, cooking, and other fun activities. I personally believe that community and communication with their peers who have similar interest, is the most effective way of therapy. Besides my personal interest in the future, in my free time I love to socialize with my friends, paint, eat food, and cook. I have a habit of having dinner parties every weekend about 10-15 of our closest friends, in which I cook large feast of Mexican food or other types of foods. I have an addiction to Sawtelle, in which you might catch my in the wee hours of the night getting Tatsu or wintermelon boba. I am pretty easy to find on campus, since I never go a day without wearing a single flower or a lot of flowers in my hair.
