Her Campus Recap: College Fashion Week!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pepperdine chapter.

Saturday, October 22, 2016, was a major day for Her Campus as HC chapters and Panhellenic sororities from all over LA gathered together to celebrate the 5th anniversary of College Fashion Week and the 48th runway show. The event was hosted by Harvard Graduate and HC co-founder Windsor Hanger Western and featured brands and sponsors from Rebecca Minkoff, Fitbit, Drybar, KIND bars, and Boxed Water, just to name a few.

The venue for the event was downright lit as girls received free items left and right. These items included large bags of practical goodies, snacks, and beverages. If that’s not enough incentive, representatives from Sambazon were there and they gave everyone free ACAI BOWLS. But wait, that’s not all, girls and select gentlemen over the age of 21 had the option to drink champagne and wines (so classy!). And if you’re still not reeling about the fact that you weren’t there, the European Wax Center was giving out free eyebrow waxes and they had staff taking polaroid pictures of all attendees in front of the trademark step and repeat (yes, they gave it to you afterwards).

Let’s talk about the main event, shall we? The actual runway show was a set of four runway fashion styles that emulated the life of a college girl. Ensembles ranging from study-chic, to girls’ night out, to classroom fashion, and even recruitment week fashion were presented by models who were also real college girls! The clothes shown were from Her Campus partners ali & ariel, FORAY, frill, mysocialcanvas, and Bow & Drape New York.

Her Campus Pepperdine even had our very own Brooke Muschott partake in this event making our chapter so proud!

My name is Queenie Navarro and I am an Accounting major in my 3rd year at Pepperdine University. On campus, I am involved with the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority and am currently interning for College Fashionista as a Style Guru. In my free time, I enjoy going on spontaneous adventures and am devoted to the belief that life is about taking chances and trying everything that the world has to offer. I've shopped 'til I've literally dropped, I used to be part of a punk rock band, I've tried everything from escargot to scorpions on a stick, and have been fortunate enough to travel in over 40 countries before I even turned twenty. Overall, I consider myself to be a very open-minded person and am inspired, daily, by the people around me. One day, I dream of working for the corporate offices of some fashion magazine while hopefully getting to travel the world.
