With the summer countdown now in the single digits, students begin emerging from their study holes to reacquaint themselves with the long forgotten sun. But don’t limit yourself to vegging out in Schenley Plaza, go and explore the city! Here’s a list of summer events for yinz to check out!

 

1. Take me out to the ball game—watch the Pirates play at PNC Park

Relax and cheer on the Buccos in the picturesque PNC Park. If you buy tickets a couple weeks in advance you can get them for as low as $10.

2. Pittsburgh Riverhounds

Not a baseball fan? Check out the city’s professional soccer team instead. Highmark Stadium has a beautiful view of the rivers and city from Station Square!

3. Pittsburgh JazzLive International Festival, June 20-22, 2014

This year will be the 3rd annual JazzLive International Festival in Pittsburgh.

8. Sign up for a local race!

If you haven’t been training all winter, you may not be ready for the Pittsburgh marathon in the beginning of May, but there are plenty of other local races to get in shape for! Look here to find one that’s just right for you.

 

9. Outdoor movies

Sit back and relax with a movie on Flagstaff Hill in Schenley Park. Starting in June, CitiParks plays movies every Wednesday and Friday at sunset.

10. Take the initiative and just explore
