3 Must-Visit Haunted Attractions in Pittsburgh

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

As the days inch closer and closer towards Halloween, the spookiness of the season grows. Whether you like to watch spooky movies, cozy up on the couch to embrace the fall season, take part in fall fashion or maybe spend your nights at various haunted houses, there are so many different ways to enjoy the Halloween season. For me, the Halloween season means embracing what Halloween stands for – all things spooky and scary. The best way to embrace the scariness of the season is haunted houses. If you’re looking for a haunted house in the area and don’t know where to start, don’t fret. Here are some recommendations on haunted attractions to visit around campus!

ScareHouse

Located in the Pittsburgh Mills, ScareHouse prides itself on being “Pittsburgh’s ultimate haunted house”. Their sentiment is entirely true. As one of the only fully indoor haunted attractions I’ve been to, ScareHouse does not disappoint.  ScareHouse is about a 40-minute drive from campus but is well worth it. In my opinion, it is the perfect place to visit this Halloween!

Hundred Acres Manor Haunted Attraction

Another one of my favorite haunted attractions to visit around Pitt is Hundred Acres Manor. Located in Bethel Park this attraction is about a 35-minute car ride from campus, a close proximity for students to visit. Hundred Acres Manor offers visitors a chance to walk through five different themed houses ranging from an alien breach to voodoo. Unlike ScareHouse, Hundred Acres Manor takes place both inside and outside, so prepare for the weather and check their website for updates! Be sure to get there early and prepare to wait in line for a spooky good time!

Kennywood’s Phantom Fall Fest

To round out my top three choices is Kennywood’s very own Phantom Fall Fest. At Kennywood, you can expect to have twice the fun and the scares while being able to experience several haunts and rides at the same time! During Phantom Fall Fest, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy most of the rides the park has to offer. Visitors can also check out their 7 haunted houses and four scare zones which can be seen here. Located only 30 minutes away from campus, Kennywood is a perfect place for Pitt students to visit. Phantom Fall Fest offers a unique haunted experience like no other and is a must-visit during the spooky season!
