6 Things to Do if You and Your BFF have Completely Opposite Schedules

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

Not being able to see your best friend sucks. Trust me, I know. We all know how crazy life can be and it sometimes gets in the way of spending time with the people we want to the most. Here are some tips to make the separation easier.

1. Be intentional

This may seem pretty obvious but being intentional about making time for one another will definitely help keep your friendship strong.

2. Watch a show together

This is just one way to keep each other in mind. Even if you can’t physically be together to watch a show, you’ll at least have something to remind you to call or text your friend after every “OMG” or “LOL” moment.

3. Give each other a recap of your day

Again, nothing too fancy. Just simply giving each other a run-down of how your day went, even if all you did was sleep and watch Netflix, can easily become a part of your everyday routine.

4. Incorporate each other into everyday tasks

Even if this just means facetiming or talking on the phone while you’re both making dinner, this can be an easy way to get to spend some time with your bestie because you don’t have to make any extra time.

5. Tag each other in memes

Again, not too difficult and I’m sure some of you do this one already.

6. Keep a weekly date

This can be literally anything. Just set aside a certain day or time every week to either hang out, talk on the phone, or just be together. This is the best way to overcome conflicting schedules or long distances.

Hi there! I'm Abbie and I am double majoring in non-fiction writing and communications at the University of Pittsburgh. My passions include napping and napping some more. On the off chance that I'm not napping, I'm probably somewhere in the library or chilling out with friends.
