As a black coffee lover myself, I feel VERY strongly about Starbucks. Never have I ever been to a Starbucks, purchased a black coffee and thought, “Mhhh this is so nice, perfectly crafted, really woke me up”, instead I’m always thinking, “This wasn’t worth my time or money”. It is probably the negative Nellie in me, but Starbucks just AIN’T IT. The disgustingly long lines, the waiting for your drink and the coffee itself always tastes like licking the bottom of a coffee can. Like don’t get me wrong, I get why it’s a cultural phenomenon, for a latte and fancy drink lovers with all the sugar, milk, cream and extra stuff Starbuck’s tastes like a milkshake with a purpose (you know the caffeine). Not only is it the pick-me-up that so many college students want and need, it like a little treat. HOWEVER, my old a** taste buds reject the idea of a latte, much less a frappuccino, but my fellow writer’s here at Pitt have a few suggestions of their favorite Starbucks drinks.
The only people I’m really judging are those that order fraps, like are you 12? If you want that much sugar, just get a milkshake from the Milkshake Factory and call it a day. Seriously though, if I ever am trying to spice up my life, I might consider some of the suggestions of my fellow HER campus writers. It looks like ~some~ of them have good taste. For every day, I am definitely going to stick with my routine of black as night coffee, but if it is like 8 PM on a Tuesday, I might reach for an iced vanilla bean coconut milk latte, because why not treat yourself.
