We’re back for another round of our monthly favorites! Here’s what we’ve been talking about, tweeting about and just generally obsessing over throughout September.
Claire Sabatine: Scandal
Why we’re obsessed: I may only be just finishing the second season on Netflix, but this hit TV series has got me hooked. When I grow up I want to be Olivia Pope; or even just a successful actress playing a strong female protagonist like the beautiful Kerry Washington.
Lexi Surunis: Nike Training appWhy we’re obsessed: Sometimes it’s hard to get the energy AND the time to get to the gym, but you can literally do these workouts in the comfort of your own home. You can personalize a workout program and track your miles along with so much more. And it’s free!
Madison Shaftic: Meghan Trainor’s EPWhy we’re obsessed: The songs are fun, catchy, and her voice is AMAZING!
Megan Baksi and Katie Piscopio: Birkenstocks
Why we’re obsessed: I thought that I’d have to retire them after the summer, but they are perfect for these days when you don’t necessarily need boots yet, but you don’t feel like wearing pretty sandals. They’re so comfy, and they look chill with jeans and a flannel or paired with a sweater. And when it starts getting cold, you can totally rock socks with them on a comfy day.
Sarah Filiault: The BlacklistWhy we’re obsessed: Season 2 just started, and I’ve been catching up on the first season in the meantime. It’s amazing and always unpredictable!
Emily Kearns: Chamomile teaWhy we’re obsessed: Until just a few weeks ago, I’d always been solely a coffee girl. However, I must say that having a cup (or two…) of tea every night has become a part of my daily schedule. It tastes SO good and it definitely helps me wind down after a long day!
Fredrika Unander-Scharin: Outlander
Why we’re obsessed: My sister got me hooked on the STARZ show about Claire, an English woman who, after WWII, goes to Scotland with her husband and magically stumbles back in time to the 1743 Scottish Highlands. It sounds weird, but it’s a great show with extreme feminist traits! It’s based on the Outlander book series by Diana Gabaldon–similar to the Game of Thrones! (There are hot guys in kilts and Scottish accents; what more do you need?)
Katie Milliken: Milkshake FactoryWhy we’re obsessed: Nothing like a milkshake to make those post-exam blues fly away!
Mavis Salomon-Lowden: Mom jeans
Why we’re obsessed: I love skinny jeans as much as you do, but the comfort level mom jeans bring is on a whole other level. They hide that little lower pooch that is so hard to get rid of. And, they’re all over the street style blogs nowadays.
Lydia Keener: Lynda.com training videosWhy we’re obsessed: These videos are available in the right hand column of the My Pitt page with so many training videos that are ridiculously in-depth and easy to understand. Basically, it’s stuff that you would have to pay a LOT for elsewhere, but Pitt has a contract with Lynda.com to make it free. Currently, I’m learning how to create apps on windows platforms. You can learn everything from Photoshop, to mixing music, to website design, to marketing stuff. It’s super extensive and I’m really geeking out about it.
Priya Ranganathan: Himalaya Herbals Neem face wash
Why we’re obsessed: It’s wonderful – it makes your skin glow and feel so soft. And it takes care of pimples in record time!
Amanda Corrado: YikYak appWhy we’re obsessed: This new app is ridiculously funny especially on the weekends. You get to see everyone’s anonymous thoughts and their filter is just nonexistent. Definitely a homework distraction, but it’s so worth it.
Jessie Iacullo: Bralettes
Why we’re obsessed: They’re perfect to wear casually under a bigger t-shirt or a dress for going out. My current favorite is this one from American Apparel. I got it for like $12 and it’s amazing!(P.S. check out Jessie’s most recent article all about bralettes!)
Alex Bush: Fitbit! Why we’re obsessed: This summer my mom got a Fitbit (a popular fitness tracker) and before we knew it, the whole family had one. In August, we even talked our extended family into getting them too. Now that I’m off at school, we all furiously compete to see who gets the most steps per day and per week through the Fitbit website. This month my sister has been kicking everyone’s butt because she runs cross country. Talk about an unfair advantage!
Kevin Narby: James Conner
Why we’re obsessed: Pitt’s sophomore running back leads the nation with 699 rushing yards through four games. He has more rushing yards so far than Ameer Abdullah from Nebraska (625), Melvin Gordon from Wisconsin (431) and Todd Gurley from Georgia (402), who are all considered potential Heisman Trophy contenders. At 6’2″ 250lbs, Conner is a big running back with quick feet who looks to run through defenders. His size, strength, and speed make him a nightmare for defenders to bring down (if they even can). Expect big things from this guy.
