1. Self-care days

Self-care is extremely important and can at times be overlooked or not prioritized during the hectic semester. Assignments, exams, quizzes, clubs and events leave students with barely any time to take a day off, stay in and relax. During the Thanksgiving break get your hair or nails done, take yourself out to eat, binge-watch some shows, go shopping, catch up on reading and most importantly, don’t forget to sleep, sleep and SLEEP some more.

2. Study for exams & catch up on notes and assignments

Set some time out of your week to study for upcoming exams and complete some assignments beforehand so you’re not too busy when classes resume. Or you can start drafting ideas for your final projects and catch up on material you may have missed or don’t fully understand.

3. Plan ahead!

Set up a schedule to manage your time more efficiently for the rest of the semester. With finals coming up, find new places to study, pick particular days that work best with your schedule and spread your study time out so you don’t cram at the last minute. This will help you feel more prepared, give you more time to focus on other things outside of school and motivate you as you go into the last weeks of the semester. Write it out, create a calendar or Excel sheet and have a visual of how the rest of the semester will be to help you stick to your plans.

4. Take on a new hobby:

The break is a great time to find a new hobby that can be beneficial to your mental, physical or emotional health. You may not have had time to think about new activities throughout the beginning You may find something you enjoy through trial and error. A new activity may help relieve stress and end up being worth integrating into your daily schedule when classes resume.

5. Socialize with friends & Family

Last but not least, it’s a BREAK, so make sure to enjoy time with friends and family. Attend those awkward family gatherings, and make plans with friends. Just ENJOY your time off, it’s very well deserved.

From all of us at HC Pitt, have a great Thanksgiving break!
