With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, many of us single ladies may be feeling a little lonely. It can be hard to look around and see happy couples all around you when you don’t have someone special of your own to spend the holiday with. But Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to practice self-love. So, if you’re single on Valentine’s Day, you shouldn’t let it get you down! And here’s how:

Take yourself on a date

Just because you don’t have a romantic partner doesn’t mean you can’t go on a date! Grab a book, head over to a cute cafe and get yourself a coffee. Or take advantage of the nicer weather lately and hit up Phipps or take a stroll on the Schenley trails. Going on a solo date can help you romanticize your life and learn to appreciate your own company.

Have A Galentine’s Day

If you don’t want to spend the day alone, that’s alright too. Round up a few of your best friends and have a girl’s night! The possibilities for this are truly endless. You could do a fun craft, make some cute Valentine’s Day themed snacks, watch your favorite rom-coms or just enjoy spending time together.

Have a Spa Day

It’s common knowledge that when we look good, we tend to feel good too. Pampering yourself can be a super refreshing and rewarding way to practice self-care. Something as simple as putting on a face mask and painting your nails can bring a little bit more joy into your life. And this is an activity that can easily be enjoyed solo or with friends!

Make a Playlist

I love music. And music is a great way to show what your love looks like! It can be super fun and fulfilling to pick a theme or vibe, go through your Spotify library, and make a perfectly personalized playlist with all your favorite tunes. You can make one for yourself or make a specialized playlist for a family member or friend—it’s a great way to show them you care!

Show your loved ones you love them

If music isn’t your jam, figure out what your love language is and use it to show the people in your life how much you love them. Saying it is great, but showing it is even better. Simple acts such as giving a friend a personalized book recommendation or sending your grandma a handwritten letter can make all the difference in brightening someone’s day. Which will be sure to brighten yours in turn!

It may sound cheesy, but I love love. And celebrating love is what Valentine’s Day is all about. And as I’ve discussed, this doesn’t have to solely mean romantically. It can mean spending time alone, hanging out with a friend, calling your parents. And, in fact, it should. So, to all the single ladies out there, take this Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to express all that love you have inside of you. There’s nothing better than loving life and all it has to offer.
