Some may wonder what’s so fantastic about the Steel City, but our hometown is so much more than the leading producer of steel like many might think. Here are some little things that give the ‘burgh it’s charm that we just love & adore!

1. The culture: Local artists, murals, museums, shopping, restaurants and theater productions enrich the city with culture. There are so many options for food fanatics, shopaholics, and art lovers! Coming for a visit? Make some time to check out the famous Andy Warhol museum!
2. More things were invented here than you probably realized: Did you know that Rosie The Riveter was created right here in Pittsburgh by artist J. Howard Miller? Or that the emoticon smiley was created by Carnegie Mellon University computer scientist Scott Fahlman in 1982? Bet you also didn’t know that the first polio vaccine was created at the University of Pittsburgh by Dr. Jonas Salk in 1953! The list of famous inventions created in Pittsburgh goes on and on!
3. Our signature sandwich has fries on it: That’s right, you read it correctly! Primanti Brother’s decided to combine America’s favorite form of the potato with the sandwich itself. We promise, it looks AND tastes amazing.
4. We have the most bridges: Fascinated by bridge architecture? You’ve come to the right place! Boasting 446 bridges, Pittsburgh is officially the city with the most bridges in the world- three more than Venice, Italy, which was the former leader! Each has it’s own truly unique design.
5. Last but not least, the sports teams: Home to the famous Penguins, Pirates, and Steelers, sports fans from all over show their athletic pride by wearing crazy get-ups and waving the famous Terrible Towel! Not to mention, these sports teams are champions! Our precious Steelers hold the title for most Superbowl rings in the league. #SixBurgh
