7 Fun Activities for You and Your Dog

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Point Park chapter.

Best friends have the jobs of influencing, loving, and supporting. This type of relationship comes in different forms to each individual. For some this comes in the form of mothers or fathers, for others siblings or friends, and for some it comes in the form of a furry little pal. For those of us who have a pet dog, they usually become more than just a pet. Here are seven fun activities to do with your dog in the wonderful season of Fall.

Walking/Hiking

The season of Fall marks the beginning of cool temperatures and the changing of green trees to colorful and even leafless trees. The beauty of leaves changing colors, becoming a variety of reds and oranges, creates an incredible atmosphere for you and your pup to experience.

Pumpkin Patches

Pumpkin patches are a huge part of the Fall season. Your precious pet will love the smell of farm fresh pumpkins. From the pumpkins to the other pumpkin patch goers, and the animals that probably run around the patch when it is not busy, you’ll have a great time.

Cuddling While Watching Fall Sports Games

Fall brings several different sports games to the television. From baseball playoffs to hockey to football, there is always a new game on to watch. Your pet will love cuddling to the sights and sounds of whichever game is being broadcast throughout your living room speakers.

Playing Catch

Even though Fall brings cooler temperatures this does not mean that outside activities must stop. Cooler temperatures make outside activities more fun for your pets. Pets can be highly sensitive to heat and cooler temperatures make physical activities easier for them. So go outside, play some catch, and admire the changes in the scenery around you!

Raking Leaves

During Fall many leaves cover yards, driveways, and sidewalks. This requires some sort of clean up. Many choose to rake leaves into large piles and remove them in that way. I know many people who love jumping in piles of leaves and dogs love it too! Trying to catch leaves which is also a favorite.

Dressing Up

Fall brings the fantastic Holday, Halloween. This is a very popular holiday that involves costumes and candy, what else is better? So this year incorporate your dog in your costume! Do a couples costume with them; whether you’re partying, trick or treating, or passing out candy – everyone will love your partner costume with your furry friend!

Sharing The Pumpkin

As we all know pumpkin everything is an extremely popular part of the Fall season. So this year, share that pumpkin! Pumpkin is not only delicious to us humans, but to dogs too. It is also extremely good for those furry friends of ours! Pumpkin helps regulate dog’s digestive systems, so share that pumpkin as much as you can.
