Fictional TV Couples We Wish Were Real and what we can learn from them

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Point Park chapter.

Blair and Chuck from Gossip Girl

Blair and Chuck prove that you can find your soul mate in the person you least expect. They showed us that a relationship with flaws is much better than the perfect relationship with “Price Charming”. They also showed us that taking risks and telling someone how you feel can be the most liberating and wonderful feeling in the entire world. Blair and Chuck showed us that a relationship could be both proper and scandalous and that second chances could blossom into great things! At the end of the day, they were each other’s biggest fans and their biggest supporters and were willing to fight for the other person until the very end.

Elena and Damon  from The Vampire Diaries

Damon and Elena’s relationship teaches us that it’s possible to look past the faults and the things that your partner had done in the past and see the best of the person on the inside. They also show us the passion of having a love that completely consumes you and how your partner can bring out the best qualities in you.

Ross and Rachel from Friends

Ross and Rachel’s relationship taught us that it’s possible to come out of the friend zone, and when you do, you realize how great it is to be dating someone that is your best friend. They also taught us that when you’ve found your “lobster” you’d know it, and what you shouldn’t do while “on a break”. Another thing they taught us is that there’s no right time to say the “L” word and to just say it when you feel the time is right and don’t overthink it. Ross and Rachel show us that you should also never give up on the person you love, because in the end, you’ll always find your way back to each other.

Marshall and Lily from How I Met Your Mother

Lily and Marshall teach us that love can solve anything and that you can find it in the most unexpected places. They also help to restore our faith in marriage and long term relationships where the love grows more and more with each passing year. Whether its their consistent honesty with one another, or the fact that they make an adorable team, Lily and Marshall show us that it’s the small things we need to cherish.

Glenn and Maggie from The Walking Dead

Even in Post-apocalyptic zombie hysteria, Maggie and Glen manage to make the best of the situation and try to proceed with as much of a normal relationship as they can possibly have. Despite losing each other multiple times over the course of the show, they never give up on each other or their love. While they know they’ll never be able to carry out a “typical” life together, the love that they share is enough for the both of them!

Mitchell and Cameron from Modern Family

Mitchell and Cameron have showed us how important it is to support your significant other, even though you may think it’s not the best idea. They also show us how important it is to keep the relationship exciting and fresh with surprises and new endeavors. They also show us the importance of a untied front and how partners need to make a great team!

JD and Elliot from Scrubs

JD and Elliot remind us how important it is to have a healthy dose of goofy in our relationships. They also show us that two people that are meant to be together will end up together in the end.  These two also show us how important it is to not let your professional life dictate your personal life, especially when you’re dating a coworker. In the end, JD and Elliot make for one fun couple!
