Top Five Beauty Buys Under $5

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Point Park chapter.

Love makeup but don’t love the dent it puts on your bank account? Love the high end quality but not the high end price tag? Many girls think that in order to have great makeup, they have to pay the high-end price, but this is definitely not the case. Drugstore makeup chains have been stepping up their game when it comes to creating quality (yet affordable) products. In many cases, you can get a great makeup product for the same price as a venti coffee at Starbucks! With that being said, check out these top five beauty buys under $5:

Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner (about $4.49)

If you’ve been on the hunt for a liner that will stay put in the waterline, then this is the perfect liner for you! It’s super creamy and easily glides across the waterline without tugging or pulling at your eye. Rimmel has a wide array of color choices in these liners from the bold to the neutral. Their “Nude” liner works wonders for brightening and ultimately giving your eyes a more ‘wide awake’ appearance.

Wet ‘n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow in single pans ($0.99), trios ($2.99) and 8-pan palettes ($4.99)

These shadows are very comparable to high-end shadows for a fraction of the price. Pigmented and blendable, these are a must-have for beauty enthusiasts of all ages and expertise. Colors range from the vivid to neutral, everyday colors.

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color ($2.99)

The name says it all… these nail polishes are truly Xtreme! The formulation is creamy and opaque upon 1 to 2 coats. Colors range across the whole color spectrum and even include a few glitter polishes. Popular shades include Pacific Blue (a vibrant, bold blue) and Coral Reef (neon, electric coral).

E.L.F. Studio Blushes (about $3)

These blushes are perfect for creating a natural flush to your cheeks. The color range is quite extensive and includes, nudes, bright pinks, mauves and much more! E.L.F. also offers cheek palette duos which include a blush and bronzer. E.L.F products are mainly found at Target and Walmart locations where much of their collection is on display.

Jordana Twist and Shine Balm Stains ($2.99)

Add a pop of color to your spring looks this season! Sold only at Walgreens, these items of the Jordana line provide lipstick-like color with the shine of a lipgloss and longevity of a lip stain. Since it’s relatively new, the color range is not too extensive, but they offer at least one color in the main lip color categories: nude, pink, red and berry.
