Marriage equality is an issue that is affecting many people in America. The lack of marriage equality is negatively affecting people just like you every day – people who have every right to openly love and enjoy the benefits of being legally married. While there is still much progress to be made in the country, we are progressing rapidly in the fight to make marriage equal. Currently 29 states allow the freedom to marry:
CA, CO, CT, DE, HI, ID, IA, IL, IN, ME, MD, MA, MN, NC, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OK, OR, PA, RI, UT, VA, VT, WA, WV, WI, and D.C.
Â
Six states have appeals filed, and are at the appellate court awaiting official ruling, and are well on the way to becoming equal:
AK, AZ, KS, MT, SC, and WY.
Â
Eight States have issues rulings in favor of marriage equality and will soon proceed to the appellate court:
AK, AZ, KS, MT, SC, WY, LA, OH and TN (LA, OH, and TN have limited pro-marriage rulings at this time).
Â
MO will recognize same-sex marriages performed in other states.
Â
Currently only ND, SD, NE, MS, AL, and GA have same-sex marriage bans but with the rate this country is progressing it won’t be long before everybody can get married to whomever they want, as they rightfully deserve.
