As college students during the holiday season, we do not have the luxury of spending amounts of money for Christmas presents. Getting gifts for friends and family can be stressful. You want to find a gift they will actually like and use, while saving money.

Rather than buying something off the shelf, make the gift yourself! This can save you money that you can put towards books and bills. Now, I don’t mean gluing macaroni noodles to a piece of paper. However, here are 4 do-it-yourself thoughtful gifts that are fun to make and useable in everyday life.

Sharpie Mug

Here is a gift that everyone uses daily and is fun to make. You can personalize this or get as creative as you would like. All you need is a mug, sharpie, and access to an oven. Write or draw on the mug with sharpie. Place in oven at 350°F for 30 minutes.

Coasters

This is an inexpensive gift that does not take much time to make. With coasters, there are many kinds of materials you can use such as: cork, cloth, glass, tiles, string, and wood. You can decorate these with paint, markers, glitter, ribbon or even pictures. Whether the person you make these for actually uses these coasters for cups or just as décor, either way it is a great gift.

Food Jar

Food is always a good idea. Whether you can cook or not, filling a jar with delicious treats of cookies or candy is a fun and easy to make gift. You can fill a jar with Hershey kisses, cookies, hot cocoa mix, popcorn, nutella, dried fruit, chai tea mix, cocktail ingredients, or even cereal. This is a fun gift to make and a fun gift to enjoy.

Headwraps

If you are feeling a little more crafty than usual, here is a cute do-it-yourself gift. Headwraps are a great present because not only do they go with any outfit; they keep you warm in the winter weather.
