5 Raincoats You Need to Take You Through Winter in Portland

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Portland chapter.

Rainy season is upon Portland, and it is colder and wetter than ever! As we know, when the seasons change, so do our wardrobes. Many of us rock our trusty black Columbia rain-shells, day after day, that have taken us through winter after winter. So, what better time than as we head off to Thanksgiving break to invest in a great new jacket? Finding the perfect jacket is a lot of pressure, especially if you’re willing to shell out a few extra dollars.

Whether your budget warrants a splurge or you need to pinch your pennies, here are five raincoats for every style, budget, and functionality.

Pendleton — $175

A classic style with a popping color–this Pendleton will never go out of style. The A-line shape is uber-flattering, and will definately spice up those all-black outfits.

Topshop — $56.99

What more can we expect from Topshop than a straight-off-the-runway look, killer color, and at a great price? This jacket is a winner. Period.

Rains — $117

For my more neutral gals, here is a black coat that is anything but basic. With it’s interesting hem and matte finish, this might possibly be the coolest black raincoat ever.

Craghoppers –$159

Besides the gorgeous burgundy color, this jacket is waterproof and watertight, super insulated, and has SEVEN pockets (yes, you read that right.) If you’re looking for a top-notch, durable jacket, this one is calling your name.

Stutterheim Raincoats — $230

So maybe sleeves are not your thing, or you want to show off your outfit underneath. Enter: the Rain Cape. The two-toned, muted colors makes the bold silhouette super sophisticated. Plus, this awesome Swedish company actually tests their coats both in the city and at sea, so you know the quality is high. The material is a rubberized cotton, making it lighter weight, so it is a great piece for spring or over top of a warm sweater.
