Dance of the Decades is one of the most coveted annual events that is held by UP. You can image that the possibilities are endless when it comes to costumes and you would be amazed with the ideas that people come up with. But, since I know that we are all on college student budget, here are a few costume ideas that you can create with the clothes that you already have in your closet!
- Flower Child- This is one of the most popular and doable looks of the night. Pull out that favorite floral top and a pair of flare jeans and you are all set! Floral dresses will even do the trick and if you have just recently picked up a pair of circular sunglasses (that are sure to be on trend this summer) those will surely polish off your outfit. If you want to go all out, find a fun headband or even make one of your own!
- 80s Jazzercise- Another classic of the night is the 80s Jazzercise look. Find all of the neon that you own and put it on. Easy as that! The basics consist of a colorful tights, shorts, bright shirt, and sweatband. The brighter the better and you can even use tall socks that most of us wear with our boots during this season with a pair of sneakers to top it all off!
- Madonna Anything- The great thing about pulling inspiration from Madonna is that she’s been apart of so many decades that it’s hard to go wrong with copying one of her looks. My all time favorite is the rocker look with big hair, lots of beads, a bold lip color, and any mesh that you can find. And if all else fails, wear a black t-shirt, black leggings, a red lip, and curl your hair and you are good to go! Hardly anyone goes in an actual costume to Dance of the Decades so don’t be afraid to scrounge up whatever you have in your closet and throw it on. You’d be surprised with what you can pull together in a short about of time. Now go out there and dance your socks off! Happy Dance of the Decades!
