Campus Cutie of the Week: Kevin Salvaggio

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Providence chapter.

Name: Kevin Salvaggio
Year: Class of 2014
Hometown: Lindenhurst, New York
Major: Math and minor in accounting
Relationship status: “On the market”.
Salvaggio is a pretty Italian last name. Any Italian traditions? Yeah Christmas Eve is a big deal. We do the seven fishes feast. And we make the homemade pasta.
That’s really cool. Do you like cooking in general? Yeah I like it a lot. Over the summer, I would volunteer to cook on certain nights because my dad would work late. It was really fun, I made shrimp risotto, meatballs, fish…all kinds of things. I really enjoy it.
Do you have any siblings? One of five. Four boys and a younger sister.
Man, it must be tough for her. No she’s spoiled because it’s a big age gap. My older brothers and I are really close.
Do you do the whole big brother overprotection thing? She’s still too young to date but we know that once she’s in that range we’re going to give her a hard time.
How do you feel about No Shave November? I tried it once for a short while and I wasn’t really into it. Us guys need to shave our face, clean up and look good for the world.
What about guys who do No Shave November? It’s like a fun joke, but a nice trim every once in a while is good. The whole month gets a little messy. It honestly depends on how it’s done. I like scruff, but if it’s excessive, no. Some stubble is cute; the first two weeks is acceptable.
What do you look for in a guy? Someone who’s easy to talk to and makes me laugh. A cute guy who knows who he is, is comfortable in his own skin and sweet…just a genuine down-to-earth type of fella.
Looks wise, what’s your type? Black hair, tall, toned with any color eye. I don’t need super buff, I just want some definition. And I like a good dresser. It’s okay to scrub out in gym shorts and a tee, but that can’t be your whole wardrobe. I need someone who can look stylish and fashionable.
Have you ever fake-numbered anyone? Nah, I’m so bad at lying and bluffing and I’d feel terrible.
What is your favorite thing to do on weekends? Go out and have a good time with friends. I like to meet new people and see a few fresh faces.
What was your favorite Halloween costume to see around campus this year? I saw a guy who made a pretty good Batman.
What kind of music do you like? I like soft acoustic-y stuff. Alternative indie and a very laid-back kind of sound.
What is your favorite thing about PC? I love the small community instead of a large campus that stretches on and on. You always recognize faces, even if they’re not your friends and that makes for a comfortable campus. The connections between people are just really fun and nice.
Do you have a favorite class? I don’t want to sound lame, but Calc 3 was my life. My math this semester…I’m struggling. I like it though.
What about a favorite professor? Yeah, I’ve had Joanna Su for every semester up until this year. She’s really cool.
Are you involved in any clubs? I have my own radio show on WDOM.
What’s your favorite movie? 500 Days of Summer. Something Borrowed was also pretty good.
Do you have a favorite TV show? I have a few. Grey’s Anatomy, Will and Grace and Seinfeld.
What is one thing you’re looking forward to this year? Dayglow. I didn’t go last year, but I want to go this year. Tickets are hard to get, but it’s worth it. Who doesn’t want to rock out with paint on them?
What’s your life motto? “You were born an original, don’t die a copy.”

Would you rather…
Fly like Superman or travel like Spiderman? Superman. Spiderman seems kind of limited. If there’s nothing up in the air, he’s stuck.
Be allergic to peanut butter or be allergic to chocolate? Be allergic to peanut butter. I love chocolate.
Be a ninja or a pirate? I’m thinking ninja. Super stealthy.
Star in a live action movie or star in a cartoon movie? Live action.
Be Gonzo or Cookie Monster? Cookie Monster. I’m pumped for the Muppet movie. They’re so classic.
