With Christmas right around the corner, I have been thinking a lot about gifts that I used to get as a child that I would love to get now. There was nothing worse than waking up on Christmas morning to basic necessities when all I wanted was a few Barbies, but now I would love if someone would throw those everyday things my way on Christmas. I already made my list this year, but if my family is reading this, there are some hints down below of things my broke self would greatly appreciate.
Â
1. Underwear. No one gifts underwear anymore. Yes, it would be weird if, at 22, I opened a box of underwear in front of my family, but you have no idea how much I would appreciate it. Bras alone seem to cost more than a kidney and I would greatly love if someone else would shell out their hard earned cash so I could get a new one… or a Victoria’s Secret gift card would also do the job.
Â
Â
2. Socks. Everyone loves socks. Telling you why I wish I still received socks for Christmas would be redundant because I know you too wish you still got socks.
Â
Â
3. Clothes in general. Every now and then a relative will give me clothes and sometimes it’s great and other times it goes straight to Goodwill. All in all, I would love clothes (that I like) or maybe a gift card or cash.
Â
Â
4. Toys. Okay yeah, I’m too old for Barbie now, but sometimes it would be nice to get a toy of some sort. For example, a game – that is definitely a gift that keeps on giving because you get to enjoy it with people you like and will always remember when your Aunt Debbie got you the Oregon Trail card game from Target… or I mean any game, but Oregon Trail is obviously a fun one.
Â
Â
5. School supplies. Obviously a little weird, but sometimes kids are hard to buy for and you end up getting notebooks and gel pens (it was Christmas after all). Being a busy and broke college student, I would love it if I woke up to some notebooks under the tree to help get me through the next semester.
Â
Obviously, there are a million things we all want, but every time I swipe my card for things that I used to get and hated I wish I didn’t take that time for granted… as for getting toys, I just want something to make my life feel not as boring as it actually is. Merry Christmas, Collegiettes, I hope *Santa* brings you everything you wanted and some fresh undies!
