I am a podcast fanatic! I know when I say that I sound like a 30 year old golfer dad, but don’t judge the podcast life before you try it! I have found myself lost in podcasts for hours at a time. I listen while showering, driving, getting ready – basically any chance I get. That being said, I’ve listened to a lot of podcasts… some good, some bad… but I have found my favorite by far. Guys We F@*cked, The Anti-Slut Shaming Podcast, consist of two New York comedians inviting on different guest to talk about something that seems to make everyone uncomfortable…. Sex!
Krystyna Hutchinson and Corinne Fisher are humorous, insightful women who explore a wide range of sex related topics such as STD’s, rape, incest, open relationships, sex parties and pedophilia. After Corinne went through a bad breakup, she disucuessed the idea of starting a podcast where they talked with guys they had slept with about sex and relationships.
Seeing as they release a new episode each week, it may seem tough to strictly interview guys that they have slept with… and you are right. That is why many of the episodes actually feature comedians, friends, and overall awesome people. I personally love this podcast because it not only talks about serious things but it also brings a sense of comedy to it, which I find refreshing and interesting.
Sex has always been something I have been comfortable talking about. I am very sex-positive and my idea of feminism involves women being able to dress however they want and act however makes them happy. However, I know not everyone thinks this way and therefore it might be an unpleasant podcast for those who feel differently. Nonetheless, I think it’s a great podcast to give a try to hear differing viewpoints and most importantly to hear these thoughts coming from women. They have guests that have different views and that makes for interesting discussions. This podcast has helped me explore topics that I never thought about before and has even spiced up my relationship.
Although, I do have my own criticisms of this podcast. It is a good example of ‘white-feminism’ in action. I am not saying that Krystyna and Corinne are in any way racist or ignorant, but I do think a lot of the problems they focus on are mostly relevant to white women. That being said, they acknowledge that their experiences guide the podcast and I think they stay very true to being open and honest with their listeners.
If you’re looking for something to pass the time or broaden your horizons check out this podcast, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!
