Her Campus has provided an outlet, a home, and even a dream for many collegiates all over the country. Our chapter is filled with unique, talented, and wonderful women which is what makes Her Campus Behrend special. We have all joined for our own reasons, but at the end of the day we all write for the same cause.
I joined Her Campus because I love being able to express my thoughts on any topic. I adore being able to raise awareness on the daily struggles that college students go through and discuss controversial issues. Every time I write something, my goal is for at least one reader to have that connection where they feel like they aren’t alone. Her Campus has helped me grow into a stronger collegiette and I’m thankful every day for joining this organization and having such a lovely team of writers. HCXO

Walking onto the campus for my first day of class, I was keeping it in the front of my mind to stay low-key, find my classes and hope the ones that I did find were the right ones. Transferring to a new campus halfway through my sophomore year was definitely nerve wracking, so in being the noob, I had feelings of uneasiness and worry. Luckily, the first week went well, and I surprisingly found all of my classes without a hitch. I had signed up for this TV production class that was every Tuesday for an hour. It was one of my favorite classes and it taught me the basics of how news and the business of television works. In the class, I was hesitant because we had to find a partner for our first project. Feeling out of place in this class, while simultaneously knowing no one, I was scared to reach out to my peers. This one girl I sat beside seemed really cool though, so I thought that I could chat with her every once and awhile and maybe— just maybe— she’d work with me. Well, after asking a few questions here and there, we finally started talking one day. Her name was Madeline Reichel, and yes— I realize that you’re dying to know— we did end up working together. One day we were talking about Her Campus, I had read articles and blogs on the HC website here and there, and was interested in writing and getting involved in something similar. After chatting a little while longer, she told me that she was the VP of Her Campus at Behrend and that I should join! She invited me to the next meeting, and I was pumped! I was feeling so blessed to have been given the opportunity, so I showed up to the next meeting. After choosing my topic and starting my first piece, I felt so good about being a part of such a wonderful group of women who were passionate about the same parts of life as me. Given that I joined a little late in the semester, I had only written one article, but in that one article, though, I was given the freedom and encouragement to put my heart, soul, opinion and creativity into my writing. Being in a group where creativity and personality play the biggest roles is truly incredible, and I found belonging through this group of beautiful women. Her Campus is an incredible organization to be a part of and I feel truly blessed and hopeful for what this year will hold for us all.

I joined Her Campus because I wanted to add some creativity to my life. I’m an accounting and finance dual major so I felt that having some writing opportunities would be a good thing for me. Her Campus continues to challenge and entertain me and I’m very happy to have found such a great group of people. The girls in this organization are amazing and inspire me each time I read an article. I encourage anyone who is even slightly interesting in writing or photography to come check out Her Campus!

I actually joined Her Campus a bit later than most of the members. I get to be very busy on campus because I am a RA so I wasn’t quite sure if I would have enough time to dedicate to it. The president and founder of our chapter, Lexie Pelchen, is a dear friend of mine and one of my greatest role models. I knew she was working very hard to launch Her Campus but I honestly was not sure what the organization did. After some time I approached her about coming to a meeting because I wanted to support her and all of her hard work. Much to my surprise I fell in love with everything the organization was and stood for. Also, I was informed I could write whenever I wanted to or had time in a way that I could best fit it into my schedule. Shortly after joining, I was signing up for article after article and loving every minute of it. With each article I realized that I had an enormous passion for writing, so much so that this new discovery led me to change my major. I am now currently a marketing and professional writing dual major and have never been happier with a decision in my life. Not only am I the current president of Her Campus, but I also was lucky enough to have the opportunity to work for Global Glam magazine this past summer. Her Campus has opened so many doors for me and I will be forever grateful for that. This incredible group of women inspires me every day and I am so lucky to be able to work with them. I would not be the person I am today if I had not joined this incredible organization.

I joined Her Campus last year after a good friend of mine had told me that I would fit in perfectly with the other women in the group. I had never heard of Her Campus before until she explained what it was to me. I was interested right away and I figured I might as well give it a try. After the first meeting I attended, I knew that this was something that I really wanted to do. The girls of this group are all amazing, outgoing and welcoming. I have told so many of my friends over the last year just how fun it is to be in Her Campus and that they should definitely consider joining. This year I am the Vice President of Her Campus and I am very excited to see what the year brings!

I personally joined because I really love photography and writing – so seeing what Her Campus was doing last year really caught my interest. I love the idea of female empowerment through the arts, and I really want to make my time here at Behrend count. I’m super excited to get involved with the organization and learn about writing and photography more! I also really look forward to getting to know everyone in the organization better because I feel like Her Campus is such a tight-knit group of super talented people.

I joined Her Campus because Kayla (the current president) approached me at a Greek life event and asked if I would be interested. She explained what the organization did and told me I would be a great fit. I thought it would be fun and beneficial for me because I needed to also take a communications course and joining could help me. I’m very excited for the year and all the new experiences Her Campus will bring!

I was curious. One day I heard Lexie (our former president) talking about Her Campus and she spoke with so much passion and pride, I knew I would regret it if I didn’t at least start reading the articles. I was right. The articles were clever, funny, and serious when they needed to be. I saw the impact Her Campus could have on our community so I texted Lexie asking when the next meeting was and became a member of this incredible organization. I am so grateful to be a part of this community and am so happy that I had made that decision to join Her Campus.

Her Campus is a site aimed at college females regarding all interests. It is a guide for college students in the incoming school year, a lifestyle site, a craft site, and an entertainment site. I have loved the site since the first time I logged onto it. Her Campus is a way for me to get my voice heard and have my classmates’ voices heard. I can share my opinions and knowledge and hope that someone else reading it knows that they aren’t the only ones.

I joined Her Campus after hearing about it while going through fall recruitment last year. When I told the girls in what is now my sorority that I am a communications major a few had mentioned that one of the other sisters was starting a chapter of Her Campus right here at Behrend. Having already heard of Her Campus and being an avid reader on the site, I was excited to get a chance to contribute to such a great writing outlet. Despite how busy I was with work and adjusting to a new school, I fell in love with Her Campus and was eager to contribute whenever I had time. I’m so excited to see what the second year brings for Behrend’s chapter of Her Campus and I can’t wait to read everything our fabulous collegiettes have to say on life!
