Her Campus is all about creating partnerships that empower women, and one way they facilitate that is through partnerships with other local chapters. This semester, our sister chapter is Her Campus at Penn State Phila U, and we’re introducing their CC’s with these profiles!
Introduce yourself in two sentences! (Include at least name, major, hometown/state)
A: My name is Anna and I’m a Sophomore Fashion Merchandising major with a minor in Visual Studies, concentrating on Graphic Design. I’m from Langhorne, PA, which is really close to Philly!
- What made you decide you wanted to get involved at Her Campus
A: I heard about the group and I was so excited that my school had a group focusing on female empowerment, especially in writing. I’ve always been passionate and interested in writing so I was so happy to continue doing it in college, now with a supportive group of girls to grow and bond with. In just my freshman year, I was promoted to blog editor, and then to Co-CC with Christiana. It’s been such a great opportunity.
- How long have you been a CC?
We’ve both been a CC for the past year.
.
- What’s your favorite thing that you’ve done or accomplished as a CC
A: I’m really proud of how the interest in our events has grown since last year. While it is still not the easiest thing in the world to get people involved on campus, we’ve had several successful events, such as our Christmas party within the group, and our Relay for Life table with all of PhilaU.
- What types of things do you like to do in your free time?
A: I run my own personal blog that I’m really proud of! I post three times a week and I’ve become such a stronger writer because of it.
- Favorite local hangout?
A: I love to hang out at a local coffee shop in Manayunk called Volo Coffeehouse. It’s perfect to get homework done or to catch up with a friend.
- Wawa or Sheetz? Why?
A: I’m team Wawa 100%. But I’m not totally opposed to Sheetz! I think it’s all based on context what you’re preference is. They really are so similar that I think it’s just based on which one you’re more comfortable in because of where you’re from, which for me, is Wawa.
- What do you want to accomplish in the next five years?
A: I hope to become a stronger business woman and to have the confidence to venture into whatever career path is calling me. I’m excited to utilize skills from both Fashion Merchandising and Graphic Design.
- What is something you hope to do this year?
A:I hope to make the most of the time I have with friends and family before I go abroad. I’ll be traveling to London in the Spring so I want to make sure I spend as much time with everyone as possible before being apart.
- What did you do over Spring Break?
A: I started an internship with a company that Christiana used to work for and she so kindly gave me a connection with. It’s a yarn company called Aalta Yarn.
- What do you do over the summer?
A: This summer I will be working as an Orientation Leader at PhilaU. I’m so excited to help new students feel comfortable at the school and excited to start in the Fall!
- What are you looking forward to the most this year?
A: I’m looking forward to being an Orientation Leader, continuing my internship, and taking more classes for my minor!
